1. Anyways, the worst purchase this year was a $60 500watt power supply. Don't get me wrong, it's a good power supply, but I misdiagnosed the problem for an older system and should have bought a new motherboard instead. Now it sits on the shelf. Aye..
2. I overpaid for the 3-year 24 hour fitness by like $100. At least I still go several times a week and the sales guy gave me a nutrition pack that he says is worth $129.
3. Those Thinkpads X60, T60, that were on sale earlier this year were a piece of crap. Overpriced and unreliable. It was a valuable lesson learned to stray away from Dell. So you bought IBM thinkpads but want to stay away from Dells? |

I believe the operative word is "stray," not "stay." In other words, (s)he is a Dell fan. Archon810 said:TrueKnight said:3. Those Thinkpads X60, T60, that were on sale earlier this year were a piece of crap. Overpriced and unreliable. It was a valuable lesson learned to stray away from Dell.

I would think I could just swap out the drive and add the software to it based on things I've read. But I don't really have a need to worry about it just yet. |

I bought a projector screen for outside, used it 3 times and fell asleep twice. By the time it gets dark in the summer I'm sleepy. |

Worst purchase, although I don't regret it: a 2004 BMW M3. Low miles, certified used, $45k. Decided after 9 months that the the ~$1k/month in payment/gas/insurance/parking I was paying was just not worth it (especially since I've had a girlfriend for 3 years ). Ended up selling for $39k. I don't regret it because driving that car was amazing, particularly when I took it to Willow Springs racetrack in Socal. |

ROTFL. Thats a good one! turtlebug said:I got nostalgic one day after accidentally bumping into an old high school friend and the following week I laid out $700 for a high-end clarinet, thinking that I'd be able to just pick it up and play it like I did back in school and that it would help relieve stress or something like that.
Needless to say I sound like a tortured goose when I play (squeak) on it; my husband refuses to be in the house when I'm "producing those sounds"; my cats run for cover and I don't see them for hours afterward; my kids give me funny looks when I take it out of the case and then have the nerve to tell me they want to "go play outside"; and I had to come to terms with the fact that whatever talent I might have had twenty-five years ago has up-and-died.
I think the clarinet is worth approximately $100 now and I can't even pass it on to my kids because they don't want to have anything to do with "that thing." |

This last summer, worried abut falling rates, I got an 8-month CD at 5.41% APY from World Savings, even knowing that they were about to be taken over by Wachovia. Needless to say, this is my lowest-rate CD, and it ties me to Wachovia until next spring. |

Pool table. It was fun when someone else had it at their house. I never use mine. The kids just want to throw the balls around on the table. |

Actually, my pool table flips over and has air hockey on the other side. We use that side. Just not the pool side. It is great for putting my eBay items on and taking a picture though. Good lighting. Some times, Chuck Norris and I run on my treadmill and play pool at the same time. |

The wife took out a $44/month gym membership at American Family for 3 years. She has been to the gym 5 times in 2.9 years of the 3 year contract. Total 3 year cost of gym membership = $44 x 36 months = $1,584 Cost per gym vist = $1584/5 = $316.80 Having something to retaliate with if she gives me crap for not raking the leaves, cleaning gutters, etc. = priceless It really does make me cringe every 1st of the month when I see that $44 charge to my AMEX. I've even sent fake moving documents to try and get out of the contract but to no avail. |
