lhendricks92 said:stfs said:Other thing that still bothers me is the requirement of 'point of sale' debit card transactions. This is phrased differently from other reward checking accounts which only states 'debit card transactions'. According to a CSR that I talked to, online purchases would qualify but I'm sending an e-mail asking the question again since I would feel more comfortable having it in writing.
Yeah, this bugs me, too. Please post the response you receive from the bank.
The FAQ mentions something about using the debit card at an ATM and whether this counts. (It doesn't, of course.) Perhaps they're using the term "Point of Sale" to distinguish between a purchase and an ATM withdrawal. My guess is they wouldn't care if you bought something online versus something in person - the merchant fees are similar, correct? I'll post the response as soon as I receive it. Just got the automatic acknowledgement of e-mail for now. Maybe this 'point of sale' is to eliminate small bill payments or donations tricks since I noticed that AAFCU does differentiate between bill payment and purchase but accept both. Come to think of it how would the bank know whether the purchase is online or over the counter? |

I got the same email. How does it matter how many inquires are made if there is no bounced checks? Of course most FWer have many accounts. |

I got a call earlier today as well. No email requesting additional information, though. On the call they asked me for the name of my employer, as well as my driver's license info. Nothing else. We'll see what they ask for when the Welcome Packet arrives in the mail next week. |

Come to think of it how would the bank know whether the purchase is online or over the counter? The transaction code is different. A POS sale would have a code that indicates that the card was physically present. Not so for online transactions. Something like this: http://www.hudsonltd2.com/kb1/article.php?id=200 |

Got "the" email this afternoon... Excessive Recent Inquiries I applied for the CitiEZ Checking this afternoon, while the FABaT request was a day or two earlier. Come to think of it, I probably applied for Citi after they would have sent this email. (I thought tracking dates was good, didn't think I had to include time of application). I had opened the CW SavingsLink account about two months ago - but there are no checks with the account, haven't had any bounced or irregular check history, so I'm very interested to see what is on ChexSystems' report. Anyone notice that the phone number is missing a digit? "by telephone at 1-800-428-962." How convenient! |

According to the CSR who called me, yes. notarization is required on your drivers license, your spouse's drivers license and the utility bill. |

I'm in as well. My packet with the signature card will be in the mail today. (I couldn't wait for the phone call, so I called and spoke with the CSR, Brenda, who I've spoken with and exchanged e-mails with previously.) I've opened four deposit accounts within the last month, although three were with the same institution, and probably wouldn't have generated separate inquiries. |

Naturally, I forgot to ask Brenda about the POS business. I called back and she confirmed that on-line transactions with the debit card count towards the requirement. Ironically, they said "Point of Sale" because they didn't want people thinking that ATM transactions counted. IMO, there were better (and more accurate) ways of stating that! And I updated the Quick Summary, removing any doubt that the copy of the utility bill and drivers license must be notarized. I also noted, based on a previous conversation with Brenda, that if you're opening a joint account, you can copy both drivers licenses onto a single sheet of paper, and have that notarized. |
