Thanks
I do that per month, just filling up my truck 4 times @ $125 per fillup!

While this doesn't specifically relate to the $100 bonus, Discover More card has changed the way they calculate CashBack, and of course it is not for the better.
from the FAQ's at website:
As a Discover More Cardmember, you get CashBack Bonus for every Discover Card purchase you make. You'll get a CashBack Bonus of:
* 0.25% if the purchase is part of your first $1,500 in total annual purchases * 0.50% if the purchase is part of your second $1,500 in total annual purchases * 1.0% if the purchase is part of your total purchases in excess of $3,000
You now only get 1% when total spending exceeds $3K unless you go through ShopDiscover or the special 5% bonus program.

It sounds like this is a good auxiliary card to have just to get the $100 reward and 5% bonuses throughout the year. My question is whether you experienced FWers think I would qualify for the card, since I've only just recently begun building my credit, and I'm a college student. I've had a Citi Dividends Platinum for six months, never had a late payment, and was given a $1500 line of credit. Also, my credit score on CreditKarma is currently 684. Is it worth applying? I don't expect to be pulling out loans soon, so a small dip in my credit score doesn't matter. I just want to know if it's worth a shot.

Someone else may be more knowledgeable about this but I believe Discover is a fairly easy card to get.

Same code in the newspaper last weekend. Is there some way to make money off the 3.9 APR until 2012 that I'm missing?

I did get an offer for $5 CashBack bonuses on my next 4 purchases, but wouldn't mind $100 of 500 too

Verified with a Discover rep via their Chat utility on their website. This deal is definitely still working. Thanks Chimeer!
Can one have multiple Discover cards? If so, I'd go for another one. I have multiple Chase and Citi but Discover is new to me.
$100 reward did indeed come after first statement date. It was great to have direct deposit of it too instead of a check in the mail (as Chase likes to do).
Update: Tried second application and got denied on website but email said "decision within 30 days" so we'll see.
Update2: Received letter saying I was denied due to having gotten a Discovery account too recently. I wonder how long is enough to not be too recent?
My Sunday paper insert had an even better offer: $100 CashBack Bonus after you spend $250. Fine print: approved by 8/18/08, three months to spend the required minimum. (One tank of gas a month ought to be all it takes ) I think all the other details are the same. The invitation code is DARQ.

Should be much easier/faster using the cash_back feature in places like Wal*Mart or so.

Doh! Figures I just applied for the $100 back after $500 and $100 back after $1000 biz.
To answer the previous posters question. I think you can reapply for discover after 6 months.

I was switched to Discover More from Discover earlier in the year. I don't have the physical cards because they have disappeared (which is not a good thing). I have been watching my account and am waiting for one outstanding (other) application to process before I contact Discover. I may ask to cancel outright since the cards are missing and ask for a promotional offer to stay.
Well, To clarify my earlier response I just called discover since I was denied my second personal card due to the time I've had it open and I was told its 10 months between Applications.

So there's a data point for ya.
Do you mean 10 months between applications or between approvals? Any indication about bus. vs pers.? I applied for a Disc. business card less than 10 months ago and was declined; do you think that disqualifies me from this offer?

If you apply with this offer, do you still get the 6 mos 0% interest that's listed on the Discover More website?

I was told this was only for Personal, since I was approved for the Business one, but not the personal card.
The CSR said my their "Rule" is 10 months between getting your first card is required before you can open another card. I thought it was six months (but I had no facts to back that up, just a guess) - but I was told its 10 months.
Midwesterners, did Discover pull EXP on you? Creditpulls database shows the most recent Discover More app as pulling TU in IL, but Creditpulls recently failed me with WAMU -- they pulled EXP instead of the reported TU, so I don't want another EXP inquiry.

Any success using the DARQ code? I got my card today. I'll have some information tonight.

The offer appeared again in my Sunday (June 8, 08) San Jose Mercury-News.
$100 if approved by Sept 8, 08 make $500 in purchases within 3 months. 0% APR on balance transfers with 3% BT fee (min $5 maximum is unlimited)
Fine print says cannot apply "warehouse store" purchases towards limits.
Anyone heard anything on the $100 after $250 Invitation code DARQ offer?

DARQ offer worked. Discover More card arrived today. There was nothing in my papers or online access about it, but I called a CSR to ask about the promo I signed up with. They told me specifically that I'd get $100 CashBack after spending $250 in the first three months. Kickass deal. Thanks.

Further, CSR stated that the credit should take 6-8 weeks. I hate that.
pisistratus said: g10ny said: Data point: application canceled, due to preexisting open Disc0ver card. But still, they pulled EXP. Oh well, I guess I was too greedy...
The same happened to me. Called, asked to switch, successfully got the new card, got my bonus within a month. It works. Thanks, Pisistratus! I checked all three bureaus just hours after I closed the old card and opened the new card, and I can tell that there is no additional pull (other than the original one, from when I actually applied for the card)
New code: DAVJ: Same offer, $100 CashBack bonus after $500 in purchases within 3 months of approval, EXP: 9/9/08
Found in this week's NEWSWEEK magazine.
Enjoy!

Where on the application do you enter the code? Thinking of getting this card and doing the 0% transfer for savings interest..
edit: nm, I saw the link in the OP

Just applied. Called the CSR, and was told the code DARQ is associated with my application, but she can not verify if that code is the $100 promotion, and she said I should be fine if the ad said so.

How long is it taking most to get their $100 credit?
