I had gone into a different Wachovia than where I usually prefer banking, and while, so far, there doesn't seem to be any 'snags' in opening up more W2S accounts, the CSR experience was 'painful'. I got an 'analyst' that had minimal familiarity with Way2Save. So, I had to wait for her to telephone for instructions such as 'how many accounts can one person open', 'how to properly link accounts', etc. Over forty minutes later, she still wasn't done.

I should've gone with my instinct to just apply and setup these accounts online, including the monthly autodraft. Last time, I remember opening up three W2S accounts in a row before Wachovia had some temp block in place. The next day I opened up two more without problem.

What is it showing up when you get the bonus deposited for a account closure? I see an entry from a few days back that looks like this:

10/21/2009 Deposit BONUS INTEREST PAYMENT THRU 9/30/09 $251.15

Which leads me to believe my account isn't getting the first year 5% APR anymore. I just checked my latest statement, and sure enough, I'm not at the 5%. I am at 3.95% though, which still isn't shabby. I'm confuzzled as to what happened, and don't feel really inclined to talk to a wachovia person about it.

Possibly depends on when your statement closed and the interest average of ~5%, ending Oct 21/22, to 0.05% until your closing statement date.

Some people have been reporting getting the $1 w2s transfer after an ACH pull initiated at a non-Wachovia bank, but that has not happened for me so far. I called Wachovia and the rep told me an ACH transfer would not count--it has to be a bill pay or debit card purchase only. How are some of you working the ACH to count?

How are some of you working the ACH to count? It's not an ach pull from non wachovia bank, it is an auto debit arranged at wachovia as a bill pay or an auto debit at, say, your cc site. For instance, I pay my penfed and chase ccs $1 automatically as a bill pay at wachovia, and have penfed and chase auto debit my cc payment from wachovia.

For those of us who received the October letter, the bonus posted on the 21st and the account converted to premium savings at the end of the day on the 22nd. After that point, you were earning the lower interest rate.

I've had no problems triggering a transfer with a withdrawl; like the bill pays, they post as "automatic debit."

ACH transfers aren't *supposed* to trigger Way2Save transfers, but, due to how they post, they do.

So then basically bill pay counts whether you initiate at Wachovia or at the creditor's site...so how can Wachovia tell the difference between a bill I am paying to a creditor and money I am transferring to my checking account at another bank, if I use bill pay to do both? Would it be possible to set up a push of $ to another bank that isn't a creditor using bill pay?

Thanks for posting, sechs--we posted at the same time and you addressed my previous questions.

In the future, don't call and ask. It's a great way to tip people off that they are offering a deal.

I haven't had any W2S transfers being triggered in the last week. Anyone know why? There's still money in the chkg acct.

Edit: nvm. Seems like they converted my acct like everyone else. I guess it's time to move my money out then.

I sent a secure message to close the account and they responded almost immediately. I've never seen a bank close an account so fast. It's as if they had a guy waiting for me to contact them about closing the account now that it's been converted. lol

Did you not receive a letter?

I've even managed to have conversations through the secure message system.

I'll miss this after the conversion....

Mine was converted, and I don't recall recieving a letter. I haven't triple checked my paper and electronic mail, but I did look after I realized what happened. No big deal on my end.

Bein in NC, looks like I'll get my full year in at W2S before it converts.

I thought so as well, being in GA, but they converted my W2S account a bit back.

I think that you guys are talking about two different kinds of conversion....

I'm talking about the W2S account itself. I had the bonus paid out and the interest rate toned down to the crap .05% or whatever the hell it was. The branch I go to is still a wachovia branded branch, atm.

Eventually. I didn't notice the letter until after the changes.
