1- Can I do ONLY the $100 xfer? Keep the checking account without ANY bill pays or checks?
2- Can I deposit $100 monthly from my savings account to Wachovia checking, just to have it auto-xferd to Way-2Save?1. Yes 2. Yes
Thanks alot.
Went ahead and opened 1 free-checking + 1 way-2-save with the representative over the phone, then opened several more online.
Now, when I log on, I have 5 checking accuonts and 6 way-2-saves. How do I know which way-2-save is linked to which checking, and which one is the redundant?
(BTW, the phone rep agreed to stack a $25 referal on top of the $50 bonus).
Oh, and what am I going to do with the 5 check cards that I get?1. Call them, or put $100 in your linked checking accounts prior to your auto transfer date and see which ckg links to which w2save acct. 2. sock drawer, freezer, shoe box, the possibilities are endless. |

It was my understanding from my rep that the $300 max bonus is per Way-2-Save account, not per customer. |

Where and how do I set up the auto-transfer from Checking to w2save? From my welcome email: Set up a recurring automatic transfer from your checking account to your Way2Save account (optional), you can either: Visit a Wachovia Financial Center. (Find a financial center near you: http://wachovia.via.infonow.net/locator). Or Call 800-WACHOVIA (800-922-4684). (Please have your Way2Save account number ready.) |

I spoke with my Wachovia rep this AM and he confirmed the $300 bonus is per account, not customer. He also reminded me the T&C states "we reserve the right to change ..... at any time". Hope that is not a premonition. |

Has anyone managed to link checking and savings accts successfully yet? The option to set up a recurring monthly transfer to the Way2Save acct is not available yet on line. I've called and emailed only to encounter confusion at several points! Maybe a trip to a branch will be needed. |

I've called and emailed only to encounter confusion at several points! Maybe a trip to a branch will be needed.Yes, when my rep @ Wachovia opened our 13 additional checking accounts and 15 way2save accounts, he asked me what acounts we wanted to be linked. We opened 5 under my ss, 5 under my dh's ss, and 5 under my ds's ss. My dh's and my accounts are trust accounts (with 1 common trust checking account), and my ds's are joint with me (with one common checking). So, in order for me to see all 15 checking/w2save accounts, we needed 3 different logins. But, the trust accounts have a common checking account in order to set up recurring 100/mo to each checking for the autotransfer to W2save accounts. And, because ds's accounts are joint with me, I have one common account with him in order to set up recurring monthly $100 to his checking accounts, for auto tfr to w2save accounts. (sorry if i'm confusing.) Bottom line, get your rep to help you link the accounts. Mine was, and is, extremely helpful. I do not think linking accounts is something you can do online. My rep sat down with me, showed me what was linked, and we added and subtracted as allowed by ownership/ss#. The autotransfers from checking to linked way2save accounts are done monthly...as set up by the bank. My rep asked for a date for autotransfer when all of the accounts were set up. And, that is the date it happened in January. |

Had 5 accounts each set up in branch earlier this week. They also set up all the links between the acounts and the first round of $100 transfers went through just fine yesterday. The rep was quite happy to open all these accounts, since there apparently is an incentive for opening checking accounts in particular. I was told they need about 2-3 days between account opening and the first automatic transfer date. |

My account opened and same day xfer $2 from some bill pays. The next morning, it did my first $100 xfer. I then had my rep change it to start auto xfer on the 1st of each month. I do not foresee any problems with it though. |

Interesting ... but 1) 400 debit card transactions/billpays/ACH debits EVERY month for 12 months is not easy at all unless it can be automated somehow. With 5 external (to Wachovia) accounts that are capable of "recurring transfers" you can do 5x30=150 ACH debits a month (assuming a 30 day month). Wa-a-ay short of 400 needed (and I don't think one can set the frequency to anything more often than "daily" on these). I don't see any other straightforward ideas. Does paypal (yikes!) allow something more frequent? 2) If one chooses (a manages) to do 400 ACH per month, will it not be a sure way to get into Chex database? 3) in case of 5 checking accounts and 5 Way2Save's -- has anyone successfully tried to be referred by the same person (family member) multiple times (to open multiple checking accounts) and collect multiple bonuses? If it worked -- would have been a nice way to sweeten the deal: I refer wife 4 times, she refers me 4 times (each already has a free checking acct.) => (4+4)*($25+$25) = $400 |

What is debit for wachovia purpose? Is ACH transfer out a debit but it costs $3. What about internal transfer between two accounts? How can I initiate a debit at Wachovia site? I have noticed you can utmost set up a weekly bill payment of $1 per payee but not per account. |

For the referrer things are a bit better: "The referring customer can receive up to 20 awards for referrals per calendar year" I agree that it would have been nice though. |

Wachovia made a hard-pull on my Experian when i signed up for their free-checking account as part of the way-2-save deal. Did others get a pull as well? I plan to open up 4 other checking-way2save accounts (max/person) to maximize this deal, but i dont want to get 4 additional inquiries. Those of you who opened up 5 accounts, did you get only 1 or multiple inquiries? Did you open the 4 additional accounts at a branch or online? Thanks. |
