What reason is there to shorten the list?
I ordered the applications by order of importance, not issuer.
I went through the list a few days ago and all the terms are the same.

$60K payment posted to Experian, went up +32 points to 782.

cyberkost's ideas are if you are adverse-action-averse. Citibnk has been much touchier with recent AOR activity and lots of apps. Grouping cards for one bank at a time means they won't see one application with only 1 inquiry on the credit report, and later in the day, another app with 10 inquiries (which would arouse suspicion).

Personally, I'd still sort the apps (however many) by desirability).

Perhaps I'm just more conservative than the average ... and the things I suggested were just that -- suggestions (thus the question mark after each). If you've considered all of them already -- great! Unfortunately, I cannot be much more specific than those general suggestions for the reason that I'm not on top of the AOR issues at the moment. The little I think I can add is as follows:
1) do you need two BOA cards? I'd go for just the NEA card, b/c it comes with 12 mo 0% BT, b/c 2 BOA apps would mean 2 EX hards to me, b/c reallocation with BOA is usually easy, b/c you seem to be close max exposure with BOA with your IOWA card
2) grouping by issuer (not ordering by issue) -- Mark has already commented on that, but another benefit observed occasionally is that one could get more than one card on a single CRA pull
3) there have been "issues" with National Citi and Principal (the nature of which I don't recall) -- have you researched that information?

Thanks for the comments.

1) I am only applying for the 2nd BOA card if the 1st one is an instant decline.
2) Interesting. I see the advantage there but I think I'm still going to stick with ordering by desirability.
3) I have not; I'll look into it though.

Only thing I'm waiting for is for Equifax to update my balance from 85K down to 25K. Then I'm pulling the trigger. Still have to do a final check of T&C of all the offers also. I'm hoping for Monday the 19th.

Check my AOR thread. Somewhere in there is a post from dougneb, who National City wanted a pile of docs on for what became a $10K CL. I also documented the decline reasons behind my National City app; they may be inquiry and new account-sensitive.

dolmar and his pile 'o financial uberpower, on the other hand, had a positive experience with them (also in the thread).

I don't think any FWFers have gotten a card from Prinicpal Bank (Infibank/FNBO) in about two years.

I'm pulling my credit 25 times; I guess I might as well try for Nat City.

Experian posted the new balance, and my score jumped to 796. I'm going to try to do this Monday afternoon.

Yesterday I received a 0% BT Check ($75 max fee) for my Chase Business Card. The check doesn't impose a maximum. It's good until 5/2009. Should I change my #1 application to something else?

Pulled the trigger at 11am CST.

Long story short: 4 approvals, 0 rejections, 13 deferrals, and 4 no-apps for various reasons. I'll update later as I get more information.

Updated for BoA. Approved for 12 months at 0%.

Between Chase and BoA, I've already got 126K in BT money available.

Data point = National City pulled credit (TU) 2 days later. Boo on them.

Also, got approved for $6500 for Discover. Consolidated and now have 16250 for BT.

ShaneM said: Data point = National City pulled credit (TU) 2 days later. Boo on them.
IIRC that matches my experience.

Citibank and the co-branded versions have rejected 4/6 apps. Maybe it has to do with that $30K at 0% I've still got from them ?

Surprisingly, got approved for Citi Drivers and Citi Professional (Personal) card for another $22.8K in personal limits. It can be used for BT. However, got declined for CitiBusiness Card, leaving me with no avenue to utilize the $20K+ of Citi Biz CL for a BT.

Data point = Juniper bank atlantic pulled experian 9 days later, yet approved me for $25K.

Data point = National City required the following to open my account (10K)

1) Copy of utility or bank statement verifying address
2) Two recent pay stubs
3) Social security card (didn't do this one, they said OK)
4) Photo ID

Since I'm not near a Nat City branch, I was forced to go into a Chase bank and ask them to call Nat City to verify my ID over the phone. Yes, it said that on the letter.

As much as I don't like providing said information, I'm in this for profit, not civil liberty protection.

Shane, how long have you been at your current address? That sometimes causes problems (usually not that severe, though)

Good question. I just changed it a month before. However, I made sure that all credit reports had my new address as my primary address before going forward. Not sure why, but apparently some banks got my old address.

Barclays just called me about the Juniper National Park card - they are denying my balance transfer check and lowering my limit from $20K to $1K. I told the bank manager that he was not able to do that under the Terms and Conditions, but he stated he was and quoted the line. It seems they can, but they CANNOT take money back that I've already transferred. However, I have seen several other FWers have they funds taken back with a "fraudulent check" claim. I am watching my bank balance carefully.

Shane, does the timing of the call indiciate that Barclays/Juniper actually waiting until they received the check to decide to deny it?

Can you see any indication that Barclays/Juniper did a soft credit pull lately, especially around the time they would have received the check?

I'm wondering what triggered them to act skittish. If they looked at your credit report, it might be general adverse action. If they didn't, then they just didn't like that you already maxed out the Bankatlantic card.

You did already get the money out of the BankAtlantic card, right?

Mark,

Yes, they waited until the day they received it. They then did a soft pull, saw all my new credit lines and new high balances, and decided to deny the check and lower my CL. I received a call from Credit Portfolio Manager indicating this.

The money is sitting in my bank account, but unfortunately I wrote a check against those funds to pay my HELOC. Said check hasn't cleared yet. So either it will clear before they send notice and they will be going after an empty bank account, or it will clear after they send notice and my HELOC check will bounce. Awesome.

So the future advice is, either don't do a BT or do it FIRST.

Also, this is the National Park card. My BankAtlantic Biz card I successfully did $20K BT on and have had no problems yet.
