i was an existing citi account holder and applied for this card. they approved me but with a credit limit 5x less than that of my citi dividends card. if i call are the chances good that they will bump the limit? my credit score isn't that good, mostly due to a lot of negs that will be seven years old in july.

Do you have a negative credit limit on you dividend card? The reason I ask is that it must be that your current limit is a negative number if 5X it is less.

It appears that you need to try harder to understand 2nd or 3rd grade math like basic arithmetic and dates and other similar complicated things before you go using something as difficult as a credit card. Maybe you should just use a debit card and pretend it's a credit card.

um, no i have a 10k limit and currently a $0 balance. thanks for the kind words though! now if you will kindly hurl yourself into a raging grease fire all will be well.

2/23/08 update:

Finally received my card today from Associated Bank! Took 18 days to receive from initial date of application online via the long form.

Credit line: $25,000
Cash Advance Limit: $25,000

Confirmed that terms for BT is 0% for 12 months from date of account opening with no fee and that you can transfer straight to your bank account directly from their website.

Yay!

onedollarinmywallet said: It's already 14 days since submitting the application (2/5) and still no emails, regular mail, or phone call. I bet if I call them tomorrow, they'll still say it's "processing!"

Anybody here still waiting as well?

I think you confirmed wrong. The Promo rate lasts 12 months from date of first transfer within a year of opening account. So if you wait 11 months to BT, you could still be at 0% in 23 months from now.

I applied for and received this card and initiated the bt request. Thank you OP and all who posted with questions and info.

I can't find this card in Yodlee's database, and citicards.com sent me to associatedbank.accountonline.com where I had to make a new login. Has anyone found a Yodlee entry for this card?

delzy -

Thanks for the clarification. Looks like the CSR gave me the wrong info or was confused.

But I'm glad to see that I can do the BT right from their website to my bank.

Here's how you add it to Yodlee:

1. Set up a user ID and password (plus the 3 questions) from their site. The user ID and password should be different from your regular "Citi cards" (assuming if you have CC from Citi already).

2. Once that's done, add "Citibank Credit Cards" from Yodlee's list of popular credit cards database and enter the user ID, password, and 3 questions from #1 above.

Yodlee will now show it as:

Citibank Credit Cards - Associated Bank Visa Platinum
auto-login | Update - Last updated xx hours ago.

I was stumped as well since the only "Associated" entry that Yodlee had on their database was the bank (the others were credit unions) but then I realized that this card is issue by Citi and it's the same website as the regular Citi credit card website, with the the "Associated Bank" branding added.

Edit: Corrected typo/clarification.

Sweet! I was only able to get a 12k limit, but right after the app process, they let me do a BT to other creditor or a check to myself (No fee and 0% for 12 months on both) I opted for the check to myself for 5,900 of course!

Edit: It's nice to see a CC that gives you your BT offers after showing the approved limit!

tyfred15 said: I have no clue what any of this means.

All that Red is not fair but you have questions you should ask something specific. It is confusing if you don't know much about this stuff.

Thank you OP. Took a few weeks to get my approval/card but got $25k and will wait til Jan 09 to run the first BT through. Surprised I got a high limit on this card since I have a $38k 0% for Life w/Citibank.

I got my Vectra card in the mail on Saturday. I'm in CO, and didn't see anything about state residence either. Sorry for the confusion.

Worse, it looks like a pretty conservative issuer. My limit is $5k. I applied for the Associated card in this thread and got $15k on that. I also applied for one other that day (targeted offer from Commerce Bank) and have not heard about that one yet.

Thanks OP for the info on this card..this is great! Finally received my card on Saturday..approved for $15k. Called Citi and consolidated a few lines into this card (did have to close them completely)...now have a $38,000 balance and requested a $36,000 check. I'm just a small player in the free interest game but I love that I've jumped from $12k last year to $38k getting interest this year. Green Green Green!

Thanks for sharing this data point. What cards were you able to consolidate?

BTW, I tried today to consolidate this Associated Card into a CitiBiz card. The Biz CSR could see the Associated card, and she tried several methods to reallocate or consolidate to my CitiBiz, but all attempts failed.

Two Platinum Select cards. An earlier post said they had trouble moving a partial line over but since I didn't need the Platinum Select lines, I just asked for it to be consolidated over & closed. I called the main Citi number, did not call the number on the AB card.

For citibank,
I've always had problems moving credit across business and personal. But you should have no problems consolidating with citi co-brand and citi main.

I've had no problems moving personal to business - until now with this Associated wild child.

Has anyone has success moving Associated Bank CL TO another Citi personal card?

lhendricks92 said: Has anyone has success moving Associated Bank CL TO another Citi personal card?

To answer my own question, I just consolidated this new Assoc Bank card onto an existing CashReturns card.

I'm going to assume you didn't have a 0% BT on it?

The CashReturns has a 0% BT, but the fee is uncapped.

lhendricks92 said: The CashReturns has a 0% BT, but the fee is uncapped.

I meant the Citi Associated Bank. With no BT fee and 0% for 12 months, I thought you would have had a BT on it. I was just wondering what would happen if you combined that card with another.

Yes, the Assoc card had the 0% BT offer on it, but I can make better use of the CL elsewhere. Just to clarify, I moved all of the CL from Assoc card to CashReturns.

If you request the checks, which you make out to yourself to get cash, wouldn't that be considered a "cash advance" and not a balance tranfer, and therefore a 3% fee would apply?

I apologize if this has been covered already, but I want to be 100% sure. How can I use this promotion to get cash without paying any fees?

No, not a cash advance. You are taking advantage of their BT offer, so any payees (including yourself) will qualify as a BT as per their offer.

Still waiting on the check, got approved about 3 weeks ago.

I thought you can do a "Balance Transfer" to your Debit Card linked to your Checking/Savings account. This can be done online once you can register your card.
Correct me if I am wrong.

What happen if let say you have BOTH a Checking and Saving account linked to one Debit Card. Which account will the BT funds appear? Anyone done it with a card with 2+ accounts?

Checking, I'd assume unless you get a choice. I have a USBank CC, Savings, and Checking account I can withdraw from when I use my debit card, but when I deposit, it only goes to checking (and doesn't give me a choice)

According to the credit card issuer FAQ thread, Citi will issue a maximum of three cards to a person. I want this card but I already have 3 Citi cards. Has anyone with 3 Citi cards applied for and received the Associated Bank card?

larryc said: According to the credit card issuer FAQ thread, Citi will issue a maximum of three cards to a person. I want this card but I already have 3 Citi cards. Has anyone with 3 Citi cards applied for and received the Associated Bank card?

I have 4 active citi cards and still got my associatedbank card (5th one). So I really doubt the citi rule you mentioned above.

That's a myth ... I currently have five Citi personal cards, and one Citi business card.

I have 2 personal citi cards, 2 citi business cards, and was approved instantly as well for this. I believe citi's rule is you aren't able to apply for x number of cards within a one-year time span (or something like that where there's a time limit involved, and not just a flat-out rule for the number of cards you can have)

larryc said: According to the credit card issuer FAQ thread, Citi will issue a maximum of three cards to a person. I want this card but I already have 3 Citi cards. Has anyone with 3 Citi cards applied for and received the Associated Bank card?
I had understood you just couldn't apply to more than 3 personal Citi cards in some certain period of time(90 days?). That is unverified, but 3 is definitely not the cap on total Citi personal cards.

I have 9 personal Citi cards and 1 business Citi card. I am planning to apply for this card along with another Citi business card in the next couple of weeks. I don't expect to have any problem getting them. The limits I've heard deal with how many cards you can apply for at once. Usually 2 personal and 2 business (maybe also a Professional) Citi card within 60 or 90 days.

Thanks OP for the great post. I just applied (through their automated phone system, at 866-492-6827) and then immediately called their "status check" number (888-201-4523) and learned that my application had been approved. So then I got through to a CSR and asked about my CL. It's puny (which is particularly annoying since I have a balance I'd like to transfer soon before its intro rate ends); but the CSR told me I should call them back as soon as I get my card and the limit can probably be raised.

i got approved for 15k and did a 14k BT

for the BT, on the online form I put down my debit card (linked to checking) number and put down the address where I get my checking/savings statements from (linked account), i see the BT went through on associated bank website that says BT to HSBC credit card (which is my bank) However I do not see this amount transfered into my checking account yet...should i be worried? It's been about 2-3 days since the BT has been posted on associated bank..

I'm kinda new to this so did i mess up or should i not worry?

larryc said: According to the credit card issuer FAQ thread, Citi will issue a maximum of three cards to a person. I want this card but I already have 3 Citi cards. Has anyone with 3 Citi cards applied for and received the Associated Bank card?

Three within 60 days.
I have over 7 CitiCards.

Applied and got an instant $15k, against which I took a $13.4k check. They mailed direct to me, and it went against my HELOC. Thanks for the great link.

The above posters are correct. Citi's policy is no more than 3 apps in 60 or 90 days, with no limit on cards, just on limits.

eirek1234 said: The above posters are correct. Citi's policy is no more than 3 apps in 60 or 90 days, with no limit on cards, just on limits.

I think the limiting factor is your Household Income. You will have to re-allocate your credit line(s) in order to get your new card if you have already reached the maximum of credit line citi can offer you based on your HHI.

good data points.
Can't wait to apply for this card later this year.

While that is somewhat true, I've had numerous issuers(BofA comes to mind most of all) tell me that I'm at my max based on my HHI, then a month later give me a new $20k card and a $10k CLI with no increase in HHI. So Definitely YMMV.

I put in a reallocation request to transfer CL from Citi Associated to my Citi Home Rebate card. The CSR said to check back in 24-48 hrs. More info in my Micro-rama thread here
