THE FINANCE AGENT IS REQUIRED TO ASK IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEASE OR BUY THIS CAR. This is not true at least in California. I bought a 2007 Dodge Durango about 2 months ago and the idea of a lease was never once mentioned. I was never asked for my ID or insurance. I even asked the dealer - what happens if I take this car off the lot, crash the car - who pays? They said if I currently have Auto insurance that they would cover the car for the first 3 days and to just notify my insurance within 3 days that I had purchased a new car. Perhaps it is just a California thing but I literally walked in, bought a car with no ID or proof of insurance. The dealer found me a loan with Wells Fargo and I was gone 3 hours later. I called my State Farm guy before leaving the dealer and he confirmed the Dealer was telling the truth about the 3 day rule. This is a pretty normal story from my experience with auto purchase. The only difference is she bought too much car compared to her income. |

with a GF who suffers from Fibro, this comment makes me go WTF I do think that some people really suffer from it(like your GF), while others abuse it b/c it can be hard/impossible to prove. Unfortunately fibromyalgia has a certain stigma attached to it. I know one person who claims to have it, and when she is late to work (about once per week) she claims her power must have gone out and messed up her alarm clock (but not messed up any other clock in her house), or her cats turned it off... She doesn't help the cause... Anyway, what an idiot car buying person. My family makes 70k, and I drive a used corolla... |

It's in the market to make money, not to protect people from themselves. They do if the finance company tells them to, I would have to wonder if they doctored up some fake W-2's to do that. The dealership has already cover it base by taking a $30K deposit. The MSRP of the car is around $100K, thus the deposit is about 1/3 of the car's invoice price. Since they can reprocess the car if the lady stop payingThe delaership "covered its bases" when it sold the car to BMW Financial, they would have gotten their $100,000 one way or another. You could say that BMW Financial has covered their bases by taking such a large down payment, and they would be the ones to repossess the car, not the dealership. |

I would rather drive an old ford as a normal person than drive a BMW as a retarded person.
Count your blessings and be thankful you aren't her. And don't judge people till you walk a mile in their shoes. Seems to me that if you got a brain tumor and you do crazy things, maybe you shouldn't be behind the wheel of a two ton automobile. |

Luckily, or unluckily, she has a host of other problems in case somebody doesn't believe her. <insert roll eyes emoticon here> |

It is quite possible to have a disability and drive. My former now deceased mother in law, collected disability. She had terminal cancer. She got disability payments. She went out and bought a brand new black mustang convertible. She always wanted one. The difference is, she could afford it. There are many diseases that affect a person's brain..and their judgement.....Parkinson's, MS, and many more..... |

Think about all the people driving around after taking narcotics for their troublesome joints, bad backs, and misc. chronic pain syndromes. Very sobering thought. For that matter, I don't think I have ever seen driver response times and judgement testing of the sort performed with Etoh and sleep deprivation done on the variety of psychoactive medicines so much of the US population is taking these days. |

Fibromyalgia is the archetypal malingerer's malaise. Not saying anything about your girlfriend. My girlfriend has fibromyalgia and was diagnosed at Johns Hopkins, the number 1 medical facility in the country, if not the world. When she first got sick, I have never seen someone in so much pain. Ever. What's so sad about your comment is how frighteningly similar it is to what people said about multiple sclerosis 100 years ago - it was called "faker's disease." I would like very much to talk about what I believe is your disease, but I will leave it at that. |

I can't see the FDA approving a medication for a disease that doesn't exist?? Also, beware making judgement calls. Life has a funny way of putting you in the situations you judged so that you can see for yourself what it is like. And trust me, Fibromyalgia is not something you would want to have!! |

No one is saying fibromyalgia doesn't exist. People are asserting that some find benefit in the diagnosis though they don't have it. |

what do you call a dealership that hands out $100,000 cars to random people without verifying income?
so stupid it should be criminal. Random people with $30k down payment money? In accordance with recently passed privacy laws, the dealership must collect the minimum required, credit-relevant information from customer, without prying into too much detail! To avoid possible privacy issues, some dealers don't even pull bureaus any longer - lenders do. And if the customer says she makes 2k/mo, 10k/mo or 50k/mo, that is what goes on the credit application BEFORE the application gets submitted to the bank. In fact, the customer must FILL OUT, REVIEW, CORRECT and SIGN the app before it gets submitted. So who's fudging who? And no one is handing out anything to anyone. This was a typical car deal, where the customer is now having what is known as buyers' remorse: she now wants out of the $1300/mo car payment obligation and wants her $30k down payment back and will grab on to any excuse, real or not, to get it. "Poor consumer!" Big-Bad-Dealer took advantage! Let's call a press conference! |

When I renew my license, no written test....take a sight test....they ask me if I have had a seizure in the last 6 months, I say no, pay my $ and there is my license for another 5 years. |

The article and the video are journalistic sensationalism. The sky is falling! Some people that lease high-end BMWs really can't afford them and want their money back! In other sensational news; It is February! |

Clearly this woman was victimized. Not only by an overzealous salesperson, but by the store manager who is always under pressure by corporate to keep sales up. This woman is a victim of the times, YEA; she is a victim of the materialistic environment in which we live. She IS the prey and corporate America (and the Bavarians for that matter) are the predator. Our brains were made to invent the wheel and discover fire, and now through some primordial "accident" we are all faced with decision much more complex than we are designed to cope with. I like the Star Trek TNG model where you can get caviar from the replicators and money has no value. Everyone deserves a BMW convertible. Oh come on--gimme some credit! And some green for having a good sense of humor anyway. I DID have you gander up after all! |
