And I was surprised at the speed they opened the account - I have Chase credit cards, and immediately after submitting the checking app I got the account number and the account was accessable with my existing online profile.

I opened my account last Thursday. Per the recommendations in this thread I send a secure message to Chase on Friday, to request that the automatic order for checks be canceled, in order to avoid the 22.95 charge. I got this response on Sunday:

"We apologize for any confusion. This account has not had
a check order processed yet. If this order is processed,
please contact Telephone Banking at 800-935-9935 for
further assistance."

I guess I'll just call them today.

To cancel the check order, I had to:

- contact the check order vendor Deluxe at 1-866-322-1101
- Press 1 for English
- Press 1 for Order checks
- Put in routing and account number
- Listen to the spiel
- Press 3 for order additional accessories

This is the only way to get a CSR that will let you cancel.

I opened the acct last night and waited until business hours to cancel the checks.

I called the 1-800 Chase number above and was transferred to Deluxe. They couldn't locate my acct and were very hospitable in re-contacting Chase, who provided them my routing/branch numbers (apparently I'm in California and my acct is from Ohio). Anyhow, Deluxe looked it up and said no checks order was yet placed, but they'd place a note on it to pre-emptively cancel the purchase...

I'll call back in a day or two to confirm, cancellation process sounds pretty sketchy

I've used one that's in bold above today. Accout is already appeared in my online account after re-login. At the very end they gave me some kind of coupon receipt that stated that bonus should be credited in 10 days from today and account should be opened 6 months to keep it.

I just push some money into this account, it shows as "ING direct deposit", not "ACH". DOes it count? Thanks.
