I have a dormant Sony card and received this promotion in the mail yesterday. It arrived in a very interesting pop-top "tube" almost like a can of peanuts.

"Spend $500 on your Sony card between Feb 15 and Mar 31, 2008 and get 10,000 Sony Rewards bonus points, in addition to your points earned on everyday purchases." It says bonus pts will post 4-12 weeks after 31 March. The second part of the offer is "spend $300 from April 1 to June 30, 2008 and get a free companion airline ticket voucher with purchase of an adult round-trip ticket."

I read into the T&C for the companion ticket and it didn't seem worth it--prices were too high for the first ticket. BUT, the first part of the offer is easy and worth it IMHO.

10k pts can get you $100 gift card at Bl0ckbuster, 2 seasons of Seinfeld, various DVD's, headphones, an in-dash CD player, or many other things.

I don't have a scanner, sorry. But this link should help.

Offer says Step 1 is to register at above address. I know we should always be careful about entering our info but I'm convinced this is a legit offer. You can wait to see if you get the mailing, or perhaps verify with Sony. Apologies for no images!

...Good timing, as my Sony card just came off of a large 0% BT and a bonus $20 for trying Credit Protector!

I searched and felt this deserved it's own thread, and shouldn't be buried at the end of one of the Sony $100/$150 "first purchase" threads. Hope it helps some.

See http://www.sonyrewards.com/en/contest_rules/index/flyfreedetails for complete terms on companion ticket.

L.V.I. Free Companion Airline Ticket Voucher Terms & Conditions

1. The recipient of this certificate is entitled to purchase one adult round-trip coach class airline ticket at the stated fare in this offer and receive a Free Companion ticket. The registered recipient may use the certificate multiple times within a year of the issue date.
2. Certificates are transferable only prior to submitting the Registration Form.
3. This program is valid only between the listed cities at the fares stated in this brochure.
4. The person whose name appears on the Activated Free Companion Voucher must be one of the travelers. Both passengers must travel together on the exact same itineraries.
5. All tickets purchased are non-refundable, non-endorsable and nontransferable. Airlines impose fees to all changes on all tickets after they have been issued. These fees apply to both the paid ticket and the Free Companion ticket.

7. All reservations must be made through Lifestyle Vacation Incentives (LVI). Airline participation varies from market to market, so selection of the airline is at the sole discretion of LVI based on availability.
8. The Free Companion ticket applies to the base fare only. Taxes, passengers facility charges, segment fees, surcharges and any other governmental fees and international departure fees, if applicable will apply to both tickets.
9. Lower fares may be available in certain markets. Customers should consult with our agents to determine the most economical fare for their itinerary.
10. This offer may not be used in conjunction with other discounts or programs and frequent flier mileage accrual may be applied to both tickets. The certificate may not be used by employees of the sponsor company.
11. This certificate is published to share information about terms, conditions and use of the program and does not guarantee travel. Only the Activated Voucher issued by LVI after program registration will be valid for travel and will carry an expiration date. All travel must be completed by expiration date.
12. This certificate is being offered free of charge as a promotional award only. It is non-refundable and not redeemable for cash and is void if raffled, sold for cash or other consideration, copied, altered or prohibited by law. May not be used for group, corporate or employee travel.
13. Blackout Dates: Seasonal/Holiday blackouts apply. Please check availability when you speak with our agent.
14. Schedules, terms, points of service and fares are subject to change without notice.

I got a smaller offer - pay your Sony Chase bill online and get 500 Sony points. Yuk! You can't get nothin' for 500 points! This was a worthless offer for a card that I never even use - what bill to pay online?

Perhaps they're just upset with me because I tweaked them out of 2 $100 sign-up bonuses - closed one and reapplied a few months later and got the bonus twice. $200 tax free dollars for doin' nothin' Can't complain

I didn't get a confirmation either, but I have the T&C saved in case I don't get my points.

I'm sure its just a typo, but when I check the Sony Rewards for the Blockbuster certificate, there's only a $50 option and it say the card expires 6/30/06.

But I'm glad you mentioned this - I was going to just discard it, because I couldnt see any gift cards/movie passes as reward options until I registered on the Sony site.

Right, more reward options become available after you register/login to the S0ny rewards site. When I called S0ny, the CSR mentioned a $50 Blockbuster gift card was 5,000 pts. I saw it quickly today on their site, but didn't notice the expiration date. Blockbuster also had a "E-coupon" for 5 rentals I think. Also saw a 10-pack of movie passes to AMC theaters.

When my points show up I think I'll either go for some seasons of Seinfeld, some 3 Stooges DVDs, or the Blockbuster cards.

I wasn't so lucky. I got a grey envelope from SonyCard the other day that says "information about your Sony Rewards" on the front of it - but nothing inside mentioned a 10000 point offer. I'll have to keep my eyes open for this pop-up tube thing.

I see two links on that Sony page - "Login" and "Register". After I login to an existing Sony Rewards account, there is nothing about the offer, registration, etc.

All I received in the mail was the 500 point offer as well.

So for this 10k points offer, do you need some code from a mail letter, or need your account to be activated for this offer? Or can you just use your Sony card, enroll in the rewards program, spend the $500, and you'll still get the reward? Anyone verify this?

Thanks! Worth a try. I added more terms into the quick summary.

Is there any link to apply for a new sonycard with sign-up bonus like $100 or $150 last year? I just closed my sonycard one month ago before I received that tube. I am planning to just apply for one and hope I can get both the signup bonus, if any, and the 10000pt of this promotion.

Thanks for providing any link if possible.
