jackcrawfish said:I received an odd message from Citi today. Apparently their email distribution system is VERY SLOW:Thank you for your recent application to open a Citibank Ultimate Savings Account.
There is still one step left: Fund your account today. As of 04/24/2008 we still have not received your initial deposit to fund the account. Please note: If we do not receive your deposit by 05/24/2008, we may have to close your account. You will then have to reapply online. It was funded with $25k on 5/5/2008 (statement printed on 5/19/2008). Strange. Today, my wife's online banking received the same message as above, except that it says as of 05/15/2008 no initial deposit was received, and that the deposit must be received by 06/14/2008. The account was opened online on 5/13, funding was done on 5/22 by faxing the completed credit card authorization form, and the funds were posted to the account on 5/27. So the message from Citibank is correct, but incomplete. |

Jack, do you currently have a balance in the USA?I have $6k in the account (to avoid the 12.50 monthly servicing fee**). I've read that my credit card balances can count toward the "minimum-balance-to-avoid-the-fee." I am playing it safe and keeping some A0R cash in the account. **not all Citi customers need to maintain this combined balance requirement - your minumum balance requirement may be different depending on which package you signed up for. |

**not all Citi customers need to maintain this combined balance requirement - your minumum balance requirement may be different depending on which package you signed up for. The asterisks are important. I don't think the USA has a minimum balance requirement. In my case -- I have EZ Checking, and so does my wife -- all we have to do is to have 1 direct deposit per month or 2 bill pays per month in order to avoid a monthly fee. This is a checking account issue, not a USA issue. I've seen promotions that require you to link the USA to a checking account, which is what was done with our USAs. We do two bill pays a month per Citibank EZ Checking account -- to our joint BoA checking account. One is $2.00; the other is $2.01. |

So... has anybody actually received the 40K TYP yet? I just completed all requirements -- 2 billpays per month in each of the first 3 months (March/April/May). My latest statement just cut on 06/05 and I haven't seen the 40K TYP yet. I know the terms say something like "within 120 days after completing requirements"; just curious if anybody had an actual data point to share. |

Anybody else having trouble setting up external accounts linked to Citibank's Ultimate Savings account? I've tried to set up an external account on WAMU, Countrywide Bank, and HSBC to link to the Ultimate Savings account but all of them bounced back and no trial deposits ever showed up in the Ultimate Savings account. I double-checked to make sure the account number was right. Strangely enough, I had no problems setting up external accounts linked to Citibank's checking account. Is this just a quirk of Citibank or is something screwy with my Ultimate Savings account? |

I also had failure. I never tried linking to it with a trancode of "checking" instead of "savings" though. There's also a chance that Citibank may just block outide ACH links or something. |

Updated my timeline here to say: 6/14 - Received Citi CashReturns bonus check, which included the 5% Cash Back from the 38K and 34K funding of my USA and my wife's USA. There are still a few months (three, I think) of bill pays from our EZ Checking Accounts to go before we know if we'll each receive the 20K TYP. Then we'll have closure. |

I lined the checking account from GMAC and it worked. BTW, even though your account might be instantly approved as shown in the online web program, the account generation process takes a couple of days. My initial trial deposits never showed up. I repeated in about five days from opening, and they showed up fine. |

Within Citi, I setup a link to Countrywide without any problems but I haven't seen the trial deposits in Citi to able to pull from Countrywide. I have a feeling it won't work because in the past, I tried to the same thing when I moved from Emigrant to Countrywide. |

Try sending trial deposits from your non-Citi accounts to the Citi checking account instead. I'm having no problems pushing or pulling from GMAC or ING. |

To clarify - I had no problems setting up an external push or pull from my Citi checking account. I was unable to set up an external push or pull from my Citi ultimate savings account. Really does not make a tremendous difference, as I could just easily transfer whatever is in my ultimate savings account to the regular checking account before pulling it out, but just rather prefer the elegance of pulling from an interest-bearing account to another interest-bearing account. |

Can we apply for this Citi Account (i.e checkings + savings) again even if we already have one? I am not interested in the ThankYou points, but interested in funding with my 5% citiCashReturns card. |

My wife and I have checking (unfortunately before we received the CashReturns card), the USA (both our accounts funded with my CashReturns card), and one Ultimate Money Account (UMA) for me (funded with my CashReturns card). The next step is a UMA for her, and then I'll think about opening an additional USA or UMA with the CashReturns card. |

Is it confirmed that we can withdraw the $25000 put in and still get TYPs from this promotion? The APY is just too low with Citi. |

The 5% probably refers to the 5% Cash Back that has been offered with the Citi CashReturns card, not a current APY with a Citi deposit account. See the CashReturns Dying thread for more information. |

Thanks glxpass for the info. I successfully funded my checking and Saving with CashReturns credit card (each with $25000). And also funded my wife's checking and saving (each with 25k). Next thing, planning on opening additional accounts. |

I paid 5$ to the same card twice a month. That counts right?? I also did ACH push to be safe. Wonder if it'll take the full 120 days or if we should call them... |
