My wife and I funded with the CashReturns one USA each, linked to our existing EZ Checking accounts under the 20K TYP promotion, and (not under the promotion) one UMA (Ultimate Money Account) for each of us. We just pulled the trigger on her UMA last night. |

Last time, I got a hard inquiry when I open the citibank account for the promotion. |

Last time, I got a hard inquiry when I open the citibank account for the promotion. No hard credit inquiries for me. I did all phone applications as follows: 1. EZ Checking (MVS4 Promotion). No deposit accounts with Citi, but credit cards with them. 2. USA (20K TYP Promotion and for the Cash Back). 3. UMA (for the Cash Back). |

Same here, after I opened my checking & USA accounts over the phone, I later went opened a "Day-to-Day Savings" account online but I wasn't given the option to fund by credit card. But when I opend this account online I logged in first as my existing user name. Perhaps I need to sign up for the account as if I am a new user, if they don't link me to my other accounts by my SSN. But if I open as a new user then do I have to meet account minimum balance requirements again? |

I have the same question. Please let us know, glxpass! I opened my UMAs by phone and funded by credit card at that time. I had to specifically ask for that, after they offered to transfer money from checking. They had no problem doing that, but I suspect they prefer to fund the account by other methods -- for some strange reason. For the USA application on-line, I simply didn't fund it during the application process. I printed the credit card authorization form, filled it out, and faxed it back a few days later. As you can tell, you can't fund by credit card on-line. When you fill out the form, just make sure you put the deposit account number you want to fund it with. Your UMA should show on-line within a couple of days or so, and you have an option to display the full account number. BTW, I much prefer opening and funding via phone than on-line. I find it's much easier to take care of both items at the same time, without wondering where my paperwork went! |

Thanks for the info glxpass. I never did fund my Day-to-day savings account. I wonder if I can still print out the form and send it in to fund it. Won't hurt to try I guess |

Will report back here. glxpass: thanks for the info. and thanks for the tip on phone apps. i will try that from now on. |

Guys for those doing 2 monthly bill pays to satisfy TYP promo requirement make sure you are not counting your bill pays to any of your Citi CC's. Though 2 phone rep's confirmed that bill pays to Citi CC's counts, the fine print for my 40K TYP deal specifically states the opposite. So be careful and YMMV. Be safe and do extra bill pays, send checks to your spouse and your pets (kidding about the pets, unless they happen to have checking accounts ) Glx ok so you opened UMA by phone, asked for CC funding option, gave the CC number and then what? Did you have to wait for the signature card to come in the mail and you signed and faxed it in, subsequent to which they funded the account by charging your CC? If so, how many days did all this take? If not, is there any option to go to a Citi branch and do the signature card thingy the same day? TIA!! |

TIA!! Funding isn't instaneous via credit card. The account information, including the funding details gets sent to the "back office", which verifies your identity, gets the account set up, and then finally attempts to fund the account. This could take several days. Since part of the funding process is to link the UMA or USA with your existing checking account -- if you don't have one, then I believe the process will require you to open one -- you can periodically log in to citibank.com and eventually you'll see the account show -- probably with a zero balance. If all goes well, within a few days later, you'll see the funding amount. My experience has been that I'll see a reduction of available credit on my card within a day or so, but it might take a few days for the charge itself to show up under Unbilled Activity. You wouldn't have to return a signature card if Citi already has one, e.g. from your linked, previously-existing checking account. If you did have to return a signature card as I did when opening an EZ Checking account with Citi, I had a bad experience going to a branch, filling out signature card there, and having the branch fax it in. The account status people claimed they never received the signature cards. In the meantime, my welcome packet had arrived with a signature page, and a fax number, IIRC. I faxed the signature card (after signing it, and Citi had no problems finding it this time. |

I faxed the signature card, and Citi had no problems finding it this time. Glx thanks for the reply! I already have Checking + USA with Citi, so good to know that I don't have to redo the signature card for UMA (I thought every time a new account was opened, a signature card was required, glad my assumption was wrong). So when I open the UMA I give them my existing Citi checking number and they then automatically link the new UMA to it? My signature card for Checking + USA was directly faxed and it all went smoothly, so I would not like to use the branch if I can avoid it --> this info is for any new applicants (also as Glx has also stated earlier, do everything by phone, avoid opening anything online with Citi, I had great success with all my Citi accounts opened over the phone)! |

Despite my skepticism, I was able to pull money from USA to Countrywide. But if paying Citi cards doesn't count, then I'm screwed. I have a Citi Dividend card that I had to call Citi to get it added as a payee. The first payment showed up as "CITIBANK AADVANTAGE WORLD". The second payment was listed as "ONLINE - TRANSFER TO MASTERCARD". The terms of my offer also showed that payments had to be made from Checking. I almost screwed myself earlier by making a payment from my Savings. That is all. |

Thank you for the reminder on this! I actually did make one of my bill payments to my citi card this month. I guess I need to make another payment. They should accept my other payment which was a transfer to my checking account at AAFCU. |

I missed the bill pay in May. Would it matter to get the bonus? From the T&C, it does not say it has to be consecutive 3 months. |

Sorry, it specifically says 3 consecutive months in the offer link on the first page. See my below response to qcumber98; perhaps it might help. In any event, I'd call Citi, and if they give you a favorable answer, have them note it on your account. I've mentioned this before, but perhaps it bears repeating in case it helps someone. I'm meeting the bill pay requirement by issuing two small payments to my Bank of America checking account. I use Bank of America as the payee, and my account number as, well, the account number. The address is the branch where I opened the checking account. And of course I scheduled the payments to occur before each anticipated Citibank statement date. |

As part of the phone opening process, I've given them my debit card number. Of course, there's already a checking account linked to that debit card, so it's not really that you're linking the USA or UMA to a checking account, but rather to the same debit card. |

I almost screwed myself earlier by making a payment from my Savings. That is all. The relevant language that newbietx is referring to says: Customer must within 60 days of account opening (1) enroll their new checking account in ThankYou® Network and (2) complete at least one direct deposit to, or at least two electronic bill payments from, the checking account each month for three consecutive months. Electronic bill payments are those made using Citibank® Online, Citi MobileSM or CitiPhone Banking®, excluding bill payments made to Citibank credit cards and transfer payments made to accounts with Citibank or its affiliates. The wording of 2) is ambiguous. I think it means that you must start meeting the DD/bill pay requirement within 60 days of account opening. It's certainly impossible to meet three months of those requirements in 60 days! So, *perhaps* if you start satisfying the requirements correctly within 60 days of account opening, you'll still be OK. |
