hi everyone,

i have about 20k left on my student loans from grad school which i should be able to pay off this year. The other 20k that I paid off last year was paid off after I transferred that balance to a Discover Miles card which had no bt fee or interest for one year. I sved myself about 500 dollars a month on interest fees. Now that that's paid off, I want to pay off the other 20k this year but have proved no luck in finding another Discover Miles type card with that same fee free deal. Have any of you seen a deal like that lately?

Thanks in advance!

Check here:

Citi Associated Bank

Apply, they tell you your CL immediately (at least if you have good credit), and request a BT check made out to your own name right after that (knowing exactly what your limit is). Zero BT fee, 0% for a year, and the check came the same day as the card. Funds were available through my US Bank checking account in 16 hours (deposited the check in person at 4pm, and they were fully available the next morning around 8am) Quick ACH with ETrade, and all in all, from application approval to earning interest was exactly 10 days (not 10 business days, 10 calendar days) for me.

If you saved ~500 a month by balance transferring 20k to a no fee/ no interest card for one year then you must have an outrageous APR for those loans.

0%/low APR credit card offers for BT and purchases sorted by terms, BT savings & stoozing profit -2/14/8 update

That one is available off of the What Credit Card Should I get Sticky Thread.

OK...wish I read your post earlier. This one looks like a better deal than what I just applied for which is the Citi Professional Cash card only because the APR after the intro is only 9.54% instead of 11.24%

Citi Professional Cash Card
Terms and Conditions

Also it seems that the Associated Bank VisaŽ Platinum application is faster, only taking you 10 calendar days to process everything (approval and BT). The Citi Professional will take 7-10 business days for approval and then add more days to make the BT after the approval. The main reason why I didn't apply from Associated Bank is because their FAQ states It can take up to three weeks to establish your new Associated Bank Visa card account(s) and post any balance transfers.

These applications used to include a form to fill out the the amount you want to transfer from different cards. I know with BofA cards they let you do this and you can get approved in 60 seconds. You can also get your card in 7-10 business days upon approval. Unfortunately, their best card offer is only 0% for 6 months and I cannot transfer the balance from another BofA card even if it's not mine. They offer a cash advance check with 0% also but I don't think you can use that to pay off a balance from another BofA card.
