Is there any limit on the money that can be transferred from savings to checking? per day or per transaction? |

mttatkns and dejanu, did you guys use the short form or the long form of the account number when you setup the payment with Chase? (Under "Additional Features", there is "Instructions for Initiating Electronic Transactions" which gives two forms of account numbers.) I suspect that the short one is ambiguous, but the long one is not. I only have a savings account, so I can't check. |

collinong said:what is the difference between a supplemental savings account and a regular savings account? at ally i have a number of savings accounts as a way to segregate funds for various purposes. is it easy to add additional savings/supplemental savings accounts at alliant? As far as I know, there is no difference. You just need to get at least $100 in each account to get the interest. It is very easy to open additional accounts. Once you log on to skybranch, there is a link on the left to add accounts. It probably takes less than a min to do. |

I suspect that the short one is ambiguous, but the long one is not. I only have a savings account, so I can't check.I believe I used the short number with Chase, but I used the long number in a separate transaction with Schwab/FIA and they pulled from checking as well. This time, I made sure to have enough money in checking just in case and, sure enough, that's where the debit was made. It seems to be systematic behavior for credit card payments, regardless of issuer. |

If the online application fails, craig says to call alliant in 1-2 days to know the status. Will any CSR be able to tell the status or do we need to route the 1-800 number to any particular dept? |

Will any CSR be able to tell the status or do we need to route the 1-800 number to any particular dept? Will you just apply already? Haven't you beaten this topic to death enough? This isn't war - you don't need to plan for every contingency. If you don't get instant approval, call and ask how long it will take. If you get a CSR who can't help you, ask to be routed to the right department. Are the answers to any of these questions you're asking going to be the deciding factor as to whether you open an account? I certainly hope not. |

Quizzer25....have to agree with ThePessimist....go ahead and apply already! If you don't get instant approval when you apply online...wait two business days and phone during the business hours and you should get one of the Csrs that are actually at Alliant Cu rather then the 24 hr call center...and ask for the status on your application.... I only took about 15 minutes to decide on whether i should recently also try Delta Community Cu (which i previously reported on here)...figuring...why not give them a "test drive"...since they looked "interesting" to me....If i didn't like the set-up i'd keep it for a month or two and close it....as it turned out...i really like it and am very actively using it.... Alliant Cu and Delta Cu are turning out to be my two FAVORITE Credit Unions (and much preferable to most banks...lol).... So, in this world, it's best to "take a chance" and see how things go As the old saying goes...you don't know until you have tried it..... |

Charge my credit or debit card Transfer from another checking or savings account at another financial institution Anyone know if the credit method counts as a cash advance? Should I fund from my CashBack cc? (I have the funds to payoff) Thanks edit: i see some others have asked before in the thread, but there was no answer. edit2: oops, i see replies now. the replies did not quote and so did not have the key words credit card fund. so seems it's a purchase. i'm going for it! |

Did you wait for the mail (if yes how long did it take and the outcome?) or called alliant (after how many days and what was the outcome)? I got an email asking for drivers license and 2 other forms of id. I'm about fed up with Alliant. |

If you call and ask, they'll waive that requirement if you do a paper application instead, and just ask for a copy of your DL. Why do we put up with it? Great service once you join, and highest savings rate in the country. |

"Why do we put up with it? Great service once you join, and highest savings rate in the country" That is so very true....actually...if i may be quite frank...i am finding Delta to actually be better then Alliant in many ways (Online Banking/Bill Pay...even better Customer Service) and they have a way of doing things over there is a very thorough and efficient....even applying for the accounts there was far less of a hassle it can be with Alliant....not to mention how fast they got everything set up for me (like a bolt of lightening...lol).... But...the thing that Alliant DOES have on them IS the higher rate......So that is why i am keeping a lot of my money with Alliant...but at the same time, concentrating my "day to day" main banking stuff with Delta....because i am just finding it to be much nicer and more pleasant..... |

That's nothing compared to what Citi wanted from me when I applied for a checking account a few years back. They kept asking for more and more stuff, and I finally said "enough" when they wanted a letter from my employer verifying my employment. That was just for a checking account; I already had several credit cards with them with perfect payment history, so it's not like they didn't know anything about me at all. Never opened a deposit account with them since then. |

Anyway, I no longer even attempt to pull from Alliant savings with B of A. But I haven't personally had any problems pulling my Chase card payment from Alliant savings. |

I applied today and as discussed by lot of people including Craig, it said alliant will contact me in 3-5 business days. I will probbaly call them on tuesday to find the status of my application. I assume the process of setting up the initial funding (external checking/saving account or credit card) and other activitites will happen after i get the approval. |

Yes, craig10x, you've discussed Delta credit union numerous times over the last few pages of this thread. You like them. More than Alliant or Schwab or Fidelity. We get it. |
