Does Citi really have the 4 cards limits?

My recent applications were declined twice. I have a credit score around 750, with debt to credit ratio at 5%, I don't really see a problem there. Called, they claim each person can only hold at most 4 cards, apparently I have reached the limit. Is this true? Nobody has more than 4 accounts with citi?

Well, I think the limit may be 4 regular Citi cards. In my recent A0R I got declined twice for Citi cards; they said I had the maximum number of cards that can be issued to an individual.

At the moment I do have 4 regular Citi personal cards plus a Citi Professional, 2 regular Citi business cards, as well as the GM and Associated Bank cards, which are issued by Citi but probably don't count against the 4 card limit.

Yup. I have the same setup as you, except for the GM card.

they also limit exposure. i recently got a denial : Account Privilidges restricted.

have about 175K in limits on other cards (citi and affiliated) but wanted associated.

fortunately the lady let me transfer 24K and 24K to my citi professional for the 0% BT; the card was about 9 months old but had a $0 fee, 12 months from date of posting BT offer. which is awesome. I was denied the CL transfer originally 8 months ago but the CSR said WTF and put it through and it worked!

I recall reading on another thread there is a limit of three cards in xx months or something similar? How long ago did you get your other cards?

I recently applied for 2 citi cards. One was approved. The other one was rejected because they only allow you to apply for one card every 6 weeks.

This is not true. I applied for four or five Citi cards in my recent A0R and have been approved for at least 2.

Not True. I currently have 7 active citi personal credit cards. Last one(7th) was approved with very low CL(2K). Giving low CL is a way to limit your total credit exposure(control the risk) to citi, I guess.

I bet there are people in this forum with more citi cards.

Could be a credit crunch effect. Maybe asking for CLIs and 0% retention offers is the new way to go
Consolidation is another solution.

No, citi does allow you more than 4

I have a question regarding the Citi AAdvantage Card:
I was trying to cancel my card but was late for several days (my last my membership due on 4/8) so that they charge me for the renewal membership. I made a call on Saturday but they wouldn't refund me the membership. I will make another phone call on Monday to try my luck. But I guess there might be no luck for this case. Any of you have an alternative strategy or thought? Thanks.

Make sure to cancel in time next year.

Apparently, in AAdvantage case, no.

I think there might be different divisions of CITI, and one of them might have a max of 4 cards limit.

For example, I wanted to get a Citi Hilton Honors, and none of my cards could be converted into that. So they told me to apply for a new one.

Possible buckets at citi:

Personal Master Cards,
Personal Visa Cards,
Personal AMEX cards,
Affinity Cards (Airline, Hotel, etc),
Co-branded cards w/ other bank's names on them,
Small business cards.

I am pretty sure that between all those categories you can have way more than 4.

However, I am pretty sure that they do have a maximum credit exposure. The latter is based on income, though.

How many checking, saving and MMA can citi permit?

Visa/MC/AMEX have not shown any indications of triggering an extra "bucket" at citibank by themselves, all of the really good indiciations have been affinity/cobrand cards.

Sometimes, when trying to reallocate credit, the CSR will say it's because one card is a Visa and one is a MC. But that's because the CSR is an idiot.
