I thought folks might like to know, since this account has been discussed in FWF before. I received this in an email from a heartland CSR

Yesterday we received notice that the rate will change in mid-April from 5.85% with an APY of 6.01% to 4.85% with an APY of 5.06%.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Question for those who have had the account for some time:
Do they mind if you make 10 small ($1.xx) purchases on-line from the same merchant? (i.e. 10 payments towards your utility bill or donations to charity)?

I've run in to problems with M/A COM - they said that 12 transactions of $1.xx "look suspicious" and my account will be closed if I keep using it in this fashion. So is Heartland like that or not?

TIA for the info!

I didn't get the email, but I'll check. The rate is still a good one at 5.06%, and at least they're nice enough to let you know and not just reduce (yank)

They manually process requests for accounts, and the CSR e-mailed me at the time of account opening that the rate would be reduced. this was not a generic e-mail sent to all customers.

3.9% for 5 year - ( I hope this is the same bank )I was just on their site(s) .. they have a few
which list either info on latest rates (in general) or a specific page
for CD or IRA rates). All of them are below 4%.

I'm not surprise. A money market I've used is just over 1.5% : (
and it's dropped like a rock in the past 6 months. I guess
we need to shop shop shop.

I just spoke to Angela about the rate and she indicated that they have no plans to reduce the rate from 6.01
