Not sure who that is? may be this ICS stands for Issuers' Clearinghouse Service. The Visa U.S.A. Operating Regulations require Issuers to submit information on all consumer credit card applications to ICS. The service was developed at the request of Visa Issuing Members to help reduce card losses on applications. ICS is not a credit bureau, but is similar in some ways and is subject to the same laws, for example, the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). It is a nationwide database that contains bankruptcy, and bankcard application activity, fraud, and questionable data information.

I think that has floated around here a time or 2, I wonder how we can get around it. I also wonder why ALL the creditors don't use it. I must have applied for over 100 accounts in the last 6 month, my ICS report must be a mess. |

I think ICS is the outfit that tracks (1) how many apps you've put in (Visa/MC only) as well as whether you were approved or declined. I got a decline (that was inaccurate) deleted from there once. BofA used the report and reported to it. |

I think I disputed SO many EQ INQs that they have blocked my address from changing to my current address. I disputed 3 of my mortgages once and now they no longer update (long story). I know most people are scared to death to dispute an INQ, but when I see CBUSA/CB on my credit report I HAVE NO PROBLEM SAYING IT'S NOT MINE!!! Also if I apply for a juny card and barclays pulls my report I have no problem saying it's not mine! EDIT: people who own multiple businesses must have away around this. |

BofA didn't respond to their request for verification and it was deleted. I know on a credit report they have NO WAY TO VERIFY. I'm sure it's the same for ICS. EQ just looks to see if there is an account from the creditor for the INQ, even if it's an old account. |

I can request a free report by faxing your docs, then wait for them to mail it to you, ... no fast and easy way to dispute or b* off inqs like with EQ swishyx, did you dispute inqs with ICS? please share the details of the process

Not sure who that is? You should request your report from this guys. I got mine about 10 months ago, and it looks very interesting. They record every application for Master Card or Visa, sometimes even including credit increase requests. I would say that not every issuer reports the inquiries to ICS, but this is the issuers way of tracking a bit more info. Inquiries stay only for 12 months, supposedly. I am waiting until June to get another copy of my report to check what kind of damage I have got to deal with |

Since I've applied for 100+ accounts, I should be able to see if the system has a limit. |

swishyx, did you dispute inqs with ICS? please share the details of the process Didn't dispute an inquiry, but did dispute one of the "declined" items.
First I had to order the report - faxed a letter to (216) 615-7642 requesting it, included a copy of driver's license.
After receiving, wrote & faxed a letter including the following item:
The purpose of this letter is to dispute the following inaccurate information on my credit file:
Declined Application Activity Section Item x Reference number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date yyyy-mm-dd Institution Bank of America, N.A.
Reason for dispute: Application was not declined. BofA never responded to their verification request, so it was dropped off of the report like any other CR item where the creditor does not respond. tolamapS' comment about them recording CLI requests is interesting - didn't know that. |

LOL! I'll ask. That's an excellent point, swishyx. It's not because of the kindness of their hearts that EX, TU, and EQ allow freezing. State laws mandate that the CRAs provide mechanisms for individuals to freeze, and special consideration is given to identity theft victims. |
