Limit on # of Biz Cards by Business (EIN) or by Guarantor (SSN)?

I'm preparing to do an AOR in which I will mostly focus on business credit. I've been reading here about some issuer related limits but haven't yet seen anything definitive about the max # of cards or exposure being tied to the business (ein) or the guarantor (ssn) or some combo.

Currently I'm either CEO or VP of 4 corporations and 3 LLCs; each with an EIN #.

So, what I'm trying to figure out is if each business can get the max # alloted per issuer or if I, as a guarantor, must divide that max per issuer amongst the businesses as I see fit. Also, in particular if it's tied to the SSN then my partner(s) can obviously enable us to get more CCS but if it's based on EIN then the additional question of max # of apps at at time comes into play. For example if they only allow 1 biz app at a time will that limit still be in effect if the apps were for different businesses.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can lend insight into these issues. I want to ensure I'm not causing frivolous inquiries.

There isnt much insight into these issues as of yet. Win333 has been working on branching into multiple businesses, and Venturion recently ventured into this territory, although not nearly as extensive as your potential.

About the only useful conclusion thus far has been "depends on the issuer". You are more in a postion to help provide data points on the issue, by diving in head first and letting us know what happens.

Thanks Glitch99,

I'll try to put an intelligible plan together within the next few days, I'll post it here, and work on fine-tuning it until roughly 5/1/08 when I get back from some travel. At that point we'll find out!

Any other advice on strategy for this will be appreciated!

Crap1- 1 app per 45 days per SS#, so you need to apply every 46 days. I don't know the limit on number of accounts, but Crap 1 is a bad example.

Chase- doesn't look to have limits by SS#, it looks like it goes by EIN# unless you use your SS# for the Biz (Venturion).

Usbank- I was able to get 1 SoleP. and 1 LLC account with only 1 INQ on the same day. But as a note, the LLC card I got is a 17% skypass card with no 0%. So maybe they just threw me a really expensive card.

CITI- the sky is the limit if you do the apps in the right order. Extensive info about this is hidden in the signature files of members at creditboards.com

For example- If you apply for a CITI biz for 2 diferrent LLCs on the same day or week you might get declined for the 2nd. But if you space them out over 3 to 6 months then it's OK.

Accounts I know you can have for multiple entities:
Citi biz
Citi biz TYP
Citi biz PP
Citi biz A/A
I've seen if you apply for both the CITI biz with and without the TYP on the same day, you'll be declined. But if you space them out over months it's OK.

I just applied for a bunch of BofA biz cards for my LLC, so we'll see how that goes. I already have a few for my SoleP., this will be a good data point.

Citi backs many trade accounts, Homedepot store, homedepotmastercard, Staples, OfficeDepot, Keybank mastercard, there are a few more. All those accounts go by EIN#, so each of your businesses can have 1 of each. If you wait 3 to 6 months each biz can have 2 or more of those accounts.

I'll report back as I get more info.

Read HERE about Supercreditman, he has 3 businesses with about 1.8 million in credit. He has multiple accounts with the same issuer for each business. About 4 years of credit building does and don'ts.

Thanks much Win333,

Been reading lots of your posts and appreciate the additional info.

Please report back on the BofA results as I've got a few BofA already but would love to get more.

How did that end up going?

How did that end up going?

I submitted 3 Biz apps, the next day I got an offer in the mail and used it. A few days later a CSR called and left a message. I called and talked to a VERY NICE lady for about 15 minutes, we talked all about my business.

She then approved my LLC for 30K after reviewing my EQ biz report, I later got a call (message) from her saying she was going to cancel my other 3 apps if that was OK.

So I just took the 30K concidering I have about 52,000/56K in personal BofA balances (not on report yet) and 29K/30K balance on my other BofA biz card. I felt it was enough

When she called about canceling my 3 apps, she mentioned there were 2 apps for my LLC and 1 for my SoleP. She new nothing about my SoleP. (you could here it in her voice) when she approved me for the 30K I guess or she just didn't know it was on my SoleP.

The big shocker was all the chase denials, I figured I'd get the most from them.

Win333,

Interesting. Yea, another $30k with those balances seems fair enough. Well, I'm hoping Chase treats me decently here: http://www.fatwallet.com/t/52/826145 and also hoping BofA allows for more cards for a different corp.

I'd love any feedback you can provide in that thread as I prepare.

My current BofA biz card is for my SoleP. 29K/30K used. The new account is for my LLC, so I think your chances are good for multiple corps/bizes.

I'll have a look at your thread.
