Not necessary. Nowhere does it says that you need to.
It's just says one per household, per customer, per "calendar year". Which means that the $75 I got it December 2007 won't count against me this year, even if this deal were to have taken place on January 1st, 2008. Just be sure to print out a copy of the flyer in case they decide they want to withhold it. Chase can be like that sometimes, but if you show them where it's written, they'll back off and give you your bonus.
Also, if you sign-up online, they automatically set your account up to order checks for $22.95. You can stop the order once you account is open by calling their customer service. $22.95 is a ridiculously high price for a box of checks, and you don't need them to get the money out of your account anyway. Just copy your account number down during the account opening process, call customer service and get the routing number for your area. ACH-push-credit to simulate direct deposit with $1 or so(PayPal doesn't work, but ING does) and continue to do this for 6 months after the bonus appears (for me, $6 sent total) to waive the monthly fee. As soon as your bonus appears ACH-Debit to get your bonus and deposit in your regular bank account. At the last month, ACH-pull-Debit the money that built up through all those $1 deposits back to your bank and call to close your account. 6 months later, you can do it all over again if they have another one of those offers that clearly says "calendar year".
Also, be aware of $3 transfer fee for outgoing ACH pushes, but incoming is free. So, ACH-pull your money out to be safe.

I've never used my ING acct. to do something like this. I have a question. At the bottom of the PDF form for direct deposit from the Chase site, it says 'attach voided check". I'm assuming under employer, you put ING(?), but how do you get around the voided check stipulation, especially since it does state 'payroll check? TIA.
