My recently new WAMU card is still showing a FICO score from Feb. I've only made a couple of purchases with it, small ones just to get the scores. Is anyone else having a similar issue?

mine update every 15 of the month (I also have one small purchase every month)

Its actually the first of every month, but they don't give it to you until on or after the 15th.

Oh, and op? They skip the first month or two. The third month should be back to normal.

It shouldn't matter whether there is activity on the card or not, should it?

Diablo's summarized it correctly. And no, it does not matter whether one uses the card or not.

As I recall, the terms state "up to 4 months" before it starts updating monthly. Mine also started updating on the 3rd month.

@cyberkost. This is what they say outwardly, but I've noticed some months it simply goes without update. I can see no other reason than lack of use, which I intend, at some point, to remedy.

I haven't used my WAMU card in maybe 2 years and my score updates. So I doubt it is that.

(eto - actually, it will be more like 3 years, since it was a Providian card first, and I've not used it since it became WAMU).

My husband got a pre-approved offer for a WAMU Platinum Visa card, so I figured I'd submit the app for the free FICOs and 5-10% Cash Back on gas. The app was deferred, but he just got an email on Thursday saying he was approved, and I was able to log into the WAMU Card Services site via our WAMU online savings acct login, and it said:
"Your FICO credit score is 688

Bankcard FICO score provided by: Experian
Updated on: Jun 05,2008

FICOŽ Score Tracking
We're sorry. Your credit score information is not available at this time."

Is there any way his FICO is not really 688? Is this accurate? I thought everything was OK b/c his PrivacyMatters Experian FAKO is 741. He has 3 EXP inquiries in the past 6 months [including the WAMU inquiry], and 2 AOR balances at ~80%, but his utilization is <50% overall. My husband saw me logging in to check his FICO and was not pleased with me, as I've been doing the AOR stuff with his SSN. [Mine too, but I figured I spread out the damage between our SSNs]

My first few months we erratic or missing, but now it updates like clockwork (and without any activity).

BTW, will WAMU cancel the card after a year or so without activity?

I have a WAMU card, and it is using TransUnion for the free FICO score. This is usually the highest of the scores, right? I also think that it is missing information that is on some of the other reports. I see that someone else is getting Experian. How do they decide which one to use? How much lower could the Experian be? They currently show a 719 from TransUnion...

Thanks

beethovengirl, the FICO you get from WAMU is a "bankcard-enhanced FICO". That means it is not the vanilla FICO", but the scoring is tweaked for credit cards. If they said your husbands FICO is 688, then it's 688 (bankcard-enhanced). His vanilla FICO may be different. And FAKO scores are known to vary up to 100 points from actual FICO scores.

JJAlther, I have never heard that TransUnion is always going to be the highest score. Experian could be higher, it could be lower, it could be the same. Same for Equifax. I believe the state where you live determines which CRA is used by WAMU for your score.

Well, I guess, somehow I was hoping b/c it said right below, "We're sorry. Your credit score information is not available at this time." and DiabloD3 said, "They skip the first month or two. The third month should be back to normal." -- that maybe this was a mistake. Looks like I'm going to have to pass on applying for the Discover More card $100 bonus offer for my husband.

I applied 2/26/08 for my WAMU card. I had the same message you wrote above (bolded), but with a score of 744. Some time in May (~2.5 months after opening I think), I got an updated score of 725. The 744 score isn't there anymore, though. I think that initial score is the score they used to consider the application, but I'm totally guessing. I haven't used the card even once. I'm not even sure if I've activated my credit card.

BTW, someone was asking about variation in Credit Scores between the different CRA's. My scores pre-AOR were all within 1 point of each other (748/749/749, according to BOA's Privacy Assist CR they sent me). Post-AOR they are, 678 for EQ and EX (according the Chase ID Protection) and 725 for TU (according to WAMU...I forgot what it was according to Chase ID Protection but I think it was around 730-740). The scores from the different CRA's can be off by a good bit.

Feeling a bit panicked, I signed my husband up for a free EQ myFICO trial, and his EQ FICO is 759. Granted, he has no inquiries on EQ in the past 6 months but I can't see how 3 inquiries causes a 70 point drop.

There could also be differences in the reported amounts among the different CRA's. Also, have you checked to see if all accounts are being reported by the 3 CRA's?

This thread at the fico boards came up in google so the length of time he's had balances might be a factor as well.

From my own experience, in Jan of 07 I did apps for 4 new cards then did massive BTs that drove my utilization up. That tanked my PFICO (bankcard-enhanced FICO) score by about 80 points. When the BTs were paid off and the new cards were 6 months old, I got all the points back.

Middle of the month for me as well. I have no activity on the account.
