Looks to me like one guy speculating that CC companies might be tightening, which we all saw coming for months. Whether or not they're going to shut us all down... I doubt it. But hey, does anyone really know for sure?

The next article in consumerist will be "Consumerist is mentioned in this fatwallet thread"! :-D
They can't really shut it all down without loosing a valuable marketing strategy (0% BT offers), but they can definately tighten the standards to better prevent against flagrant AOR abuse. See Dolmar's thread on a Mini AOR. They will never be able to block situations like that
. The problem is that most don't have Dolmar's stats to get those kinds of limits with so few cards.

FUD is good... Mmmm...
At least the banks aren't blaming the housing crisis on AOR's.
It does present a much more clear picture of how bad this crisis has become. If they are cost cutting to this degree, there is alot more to come.

Last month, I noticed that Citi was getting a bit tighter on BTs. One of my cards had a 0% for 12 months with a $75 cap. My 5% CashReturns had recently run out, so I called them and tried to consolidate the CL from that, and hopefully shift some partial CL's from other cards to take advantage of the BT offer.
Citi denied any and all requests to bump up the line with the offer, telling me that I could not reallocate lines _because_ there was a BT offer on that card.
At the end of last year, I had a similar BT offer on one of my wife's cards, and we were able to reallocate/consolidate some of her other accounts to push the CL from 4K to over 18K before taking out a BT. So either they are treating my accounts differently from hers, or Citi has implemented a no consolidation to lines with existing BT offers rule in the last few months.

The article doesn't just mention fatwallet. It's solely based on fatwallet and in fact one single thread on fatwallet. It looks more like a Digg than anything else. The only other reference is a WSJ article from 10 months ago. Not exactly news. ![]()

You have to read complete sentences sometimes...
