It's not hard to see how RJG got 100k points if first purchase is $20k+...

5000 for first purchase + some points for money spent on first purchase + 5000 after spending $20k + 20k points for spending $50k + 50k points for spending $50k = 80k + some points for money spent on first purchase

Yes you get regular points, but most cards give you regular points. The point of the bonus is that you get something above and beyond the regular points after your first purchase (or after you hit a reachable dollar amount).

The reason I said that this new deal is a ripoff is because you get $200 less than the old deal for spending the exact same amount.

same. Me and wife opened the card at the same time last year. When wife called in to cancel they offered her $30 retention bonus. When I called in they offered nothing and said they would close the card immediately.
