I got an email from AMEX on Monday. I had two AMEX personal card and an AMEX biz cash rebate card. Click the "accept now!" link in the email which AMEX pre-filled most of the info, and got instant approval. Do not if DH got same email, but went ahead using the general link OP provided and got instant approval too. DH was AU on my two personal cards, but had no open small biz card. |

I never had AMEX before and I am guessing this is the best time to apply, but when I went to apply online it's asking for Business Name, Industry Type, and Years in Operation. What did you guys put there? |

I received this offer via email as well. Can anyone confirm whether AMEX performs a soft or hard pull for this, as it is a targeted email? |

I already have an AMEX JetBlue that just gave me a free flight, figured I'd try for this. Shot down for 'Company Exists', they wanted some proof that the company was real. Just popped over to BoA and opened a biz checking account, got the $50 for that and faxed off my account statement to AMEX. Hopefully they'll approve me, flights have gotten too expensive lately for me to pay out of pocket, yeesh. |

Just read the Meijer flyer and they are offering $30 off coupon for every $300 in gift cards that you buy (This is the tax rebate check offer that many stores are offering). So planning to buy $1000 worth of Meijer gift cards. What did you find out? I got the same. |

Thanks for your reply though So can anyone give a suggestion on what to write for business type. will self-employed fly or how about just using your name as the business name? |

My experience with getting the 20000 bonus points was rather quick (approximately 60 days - {4/23 to 6/16}): 04/23/2008 - applied and approved for card (first time cardholder) 05/14/2008 - First statement cuts with $505 balance 05/16/2008 - Purchase pushes account past the $1000 minimum purchase requirement to receive bonus points. 05/20/2008 - online payment to payoff card in full 05/20/2008 - I check my Rewards Statement detail and find 20,000 pending points as "5/1/2008" transaction date for "BGR Spring08/Spend$1k-20K pts" 06/13/2008 - 2nd statement cuts with $0 balance 06/16/2008 - I check my Rewards Statement detail and find 505 earned points "6/1/2008" transaction date (from 5/14/2008 stmt purchase activity) 06/16/2008 - On same Rewards Statement detail and find that the 20,000 pending points are now earned points |

Thanks for your reply though I've always used an "associates" business (e.g. [Insert Last Name] Associates). That way any side business (e.g. one fleabay item a year, any paid computer help, etc) all falls under the same business. It also works well for the "freebies" forum. No one knows what an associates / consulting business does, so you qualify for just about everything... |

I signed up for the gold card last year and got the $250 HomeDepot GCs from the membership rewards. I had cancelled the account in January and will likely sign up for this promo. Does the Membership Rewards program allow you to convert points into airline miles in a family member's account? My 3 yr old is 2 points shy of a free ticket on Southwest and I'd like to top off his account. |

Anyone else getting this message? "Due to a computer system error, we are unable to process your application at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience." EDIT Works now. The application doesn't work if you select "Yes" where it asks for "Already a Card Member?" |
