This popped up on Creditboards. The OP made a complaint and got a call back from the Office of the President that contained some interesting statements - including one about AMEX tweaking its underwriting in general in response to the economic climate.

It's about time banks started flagging creditboards people. They're a bunch of deadbeats.
don't care at all for AMEX any more.
They are noticing a pattern in defaulting weasels who won't own up to the debts they've incurred? Good for AMEX.

I know. And yes... it is interesting over there. I find that I make my best conclusions using data from both places, but neither seems to like the other much.
I worked in IT for a top 10 depositary institution implementing / improving day-to-day internet functionality.
I was amazed at how much the business analysts knew about the general patterns of usage and how much they cared about the customer / end user having the best possible technology. Of course, designing / implementing / deploying it in a way that analysts wanted was different story.
I would assume that someone in underwriting would know at least as much as an above-average FWF user.
This brings up to an interesting conclusion: all the banks / credit issuers know about AOR, bonuses, BT arbitrage, and all kinds of other possible gaming strategies, and they are OK with it. Just play safe and enjoy while it lasts.
I truly hope that FW can ensure the confidentiality of the user accounts here. Forever.

Funny you say that, did you ever wonder why the $5 Bonus pay "Bonus payments are only available with a check payment"?
You can always argue thats for avoiding abuse but after soooooo long, its easy to distinguish between a legit and abusive account.
I will always opt for Paypal payment and lose the $5 bonus, guess thats the price of privacy.
EDIT: I LOVE Fatwallet so much that I never cared to read their Privacy policy.
