oh noes! not as bad as the last time that girl asked me if i was just using her for sex though. AMEX called me to ask what's the deal with all these credit refunds you keep taking? and i said bt's... and she said it was inappropriate use of the card and that if i continue to do so they may need to take some actions on my account.

no company likes it when you run BT's through them. it is ok if you do it once or twice and already have a balance on the card, and don't BT over that balance

I just don't understand why people continue to mess with AMEX. What part of F/R do you not understand?

all of it, what's f/r mean ?

Financial Review. It's when AMEX freezes your account and demands docs, including permission to electronically pull tax returns. Search the forum for financial review and/or "F/R" and you'll find plenty.

AMEX passed me up on a FR, and simply reduced my CL's from a total of $35k to $1k (after paying off the 6 mo blanances, 7 mo's into an AOR).

wowwww they really own you for that. i have had an AMEX card in some form since 2002 so i would hope they wouldn't put the squeeze on me like that.

They do it to people who have had the card for 15 years, so don't assume you're safe.

Yeah, everyone of us hope this won't happen to us. Is it enough? Hardly...

as a side note i've never used another forum that had a rating system per post and am amused/surprised that people actually take the time to do it!

only use citi for BT refunds

In light of the recent reports of Citi adverse action, what about using PenFed for BT refunds? I have a couple of no-fee cash advance checks that I could write to myself as soon as the balance shows up on the credit card. Even if I got a couple of days of interest, I'd still be way ahead. Has anybody had problems doing this?

Note: I do have one BT already headed to a Citi card, but have two more BTs that need to go to a CC and don't want to push Citi too hard. I have several good rewards cards with them that I don't want to jeopardize and am also using them for 0% BTs, both business and personal.

Lack of imagination and/or being a pathological miser is the only reason to request a credit balance refund or to 'balance transfer' to a debit card. Plenty o' issuers with no CA fee and minimal interest that allow you to create a balance to pay off. PFCU, DCU, and USAA all come to mind. But OMG, you might have to pay a few dollars of interest, and that seems to be a mortal sin to some people. god forbid one might actually pay a fee for a valuable service.

I've been warning people for months that Citi would turn on them. If you don't use the card 'as intended' don't be too surprised if you get AA. Debit first, payment second.

I did the credit union cash advance thing.
Ran my CU card up near the limit, paid it with an AMEX check, rinse&repeat. The third check got me a phone call from AMEX, wanting to verify that I was the one who wrote the check.

banks have been getting hit HARD with credit refund fraud.

they're starting to crack down.

Can someone tell me what "AA" means? I've read it a few times and can't figure out what it means...
