BoA charge me annual fee again on my visa credit card. It is only $18, but it makes me angry. None of my other cards charge me any annual fee. And I always keep the balance on this card less than $200, never pay it late. I am thinking about pay it off, and close it. I am just wondering if there is any downside, such as hurting my credit score?

Thanks.

Is it some type of rewards or travel card?

Effect on your credit score will probably depend on how old the card is compared to your other cards, and how much of your total credit limit it represents. Have you tried calling them to see if they can convert it to another card type without loosing the history? Certain card "brands" have limits and may be more frequent with cards that have certain perks.

See if they can change your card to one with no annual fee.

CLOSE IT NOW!

...then open another one from BOFA that will pay you $50 when you 1st used it.

Teach them they need to pay YOU not that you need to pay THEM!

BoA no charge me fee? Me like BoA!

It is a BoA Platinum Visa credit card. It is not a travel card, and does not have any reward either.

Switch it to a no-fee card and remember to buy a pack of gum on the third Tuesday of every month.

Convert it to a BOA American Express. Its not bad and I have no fees with a 25k credit limit. I only keep the American Express Gold and Platinum cards with the annual fees. No other card is really worth it.

Yes! Certainly close any cards that charge you fees. There's enough of them out there that pay you to use their cards. I make like $300 from cc open bonuses and rebates each year.

Write a letter to the president and CEO of BOA explaining how their abuse of you with that substandard product has soured you to their company and now you are not going to deposit your $100MM trust fund balance there. That'll show 'em.

switch it if you can as others have suggested. if for some reason you can't, apply for another no fee B of A card, then transfer your credit limit to the new card before canceling the old card.
