Which is faster:

1. Pulling money from Bank of America checking account using Provident Bank savings account directly OR

2. Pulling money from Bank of America checking to my GMAC savings and then pushing the money from GMAC savings to Provident Bank?

This might sound crazy, but when I did an initial deposit to Provident from my checking directly it took about a week. I've heard it takes way less time to do all of this transferring using GMAC. Anyone have any experience? I know you cannot trust the website's guarantee that your money will be transferred in X amount of days, which is why I am asking.

And I know it's not a ton of interest lost, but hey, it's still money lost that it could be earning interest somewhere!

Thanks

Ummm... why not do some test transactions with $10 or something to find out for sure?

Did you hear about the Aggie at the stop sign? Well, he's still there.
How do you get a one armed Aggie out of a tree? Wave.

There were three Aggies huddled around each other at a local bar. All of a sudden, they jumped up and yelled,
"Yeah, 45! 45!" The bartender goes down to them and asks, "45? What are you guys so excited about?"
One of the Aggies speaks up: "We just finished a jigsaw puzzle. The box said 2 to 3 years, and we did it in 45 days!"

definitely go second route

first it will be faster, if you timing it well

second, if it is, you will have limited day loss during the transaction, GMAC is still at 3%, while route one gives no interest for some days...

Tips for GMAC transfer

1. Do instant on transfer in (it will shows as next day), but NEVER do instant on transfer out(since you will most likely have 1 more day loss), choose schedule and set it at next business day.
2. GMAC will have money available on day 3 (at least for my account), day 1 is what you put on the transfer page, GMAC shows transaction date as today, day 2 they settle the transfer, you money dissapear on the other bank account, day 3 money is available for withdraw.
3. This is for all ACH transaction, Do not transfer out on Fri, Sat, Sun, as the transfer acturally done in business day, and take two days. If you do it on Friday, the other end will show up on Monday, which means you loss your weekend interest. Do it on Mon to Thur. On the other hand, do transfer in on Friday, will be benefit for you, as you get double interest for both account.

So if you want to do it today.
set up transaction to withdraw from BOA, today is Wed, so they will set up a transfer on Thur
Thur, you will see money in GMAC and BOA, it is day 1
Fri, you will see money withdrawed from BOA, it is day 2.
Mon, GMAC will have it available, it is day 3.
So you can schedule the transfer out on Monday.
To make sure it is available, wait until Monday to see the available balance, and set up the transfer on Tues (as I said, don't do instant on transfer out)
