Chase also has the same thing with their Marriott Rewards card. Wife applied and got $25,000 limit. I have 2 cards each with $20,000 limit. $75 max fee as well. 2.99% for life. |

Read the fine print. Does it say something similar to the following?... "We include Transaction Fees when computing finance charges. Incurring Fees result in an APR exceeding 0% for the billing statement on which Fees appear. We will allocate your payments to balances (including new transactions) with lower Annual Percentage Rates (APRs) (including zero percent) before balances with higher APRs." A PenFed CSR told me that they don't allocate payments in that way. Instead, payments go towards paying the balance transfer fees first. |

The rate is now 5.99%. I wanted to do a balance transfer on 6/16/08, when it had just changed to 5.99% from 2.99%. When I called, they were willing to extend the 2.99% rate to me. I did explain that I had just applied for the credit card specifically for the balance transfer offer and had been waiting for the approval to show up online, and there had been a time lag. |

AFAIK, the start date of this promotion was May 7 (that's when I got the email that led to my original posting). If it just expired, as posts immediately above indicate, this particular promotion had a lifespan of 6 weeks. Just providing this as a datapoint within the topic of promo rates...and wondering whether other PenFed offers (or, for that matter, similar CC promos) last about this long. |

See here When I requested my 6/17/08 balance transfer online, it was still showing 2.99%. So today I was surprised to see 5.99% listed on my account next to my balance transfer. I contacted penfed today and they confirmed that it did indeed show 2.99% in at least one place on their website at that time. And they corrected my rate down to 2.99% (although I was told the correction won't appear until my next statement). |

Hi all, I was considering getting in with PenFed. I was wondering what the rule of thumb is on what amount of credit line I should ask for. I know there is no one formula, but based on the following, what do you think would be good? Credit Score = ~775 FICO Income = ~$55K Credit Utilization Ratio = ~10% Current High Credit Limit = ~$15K From what I have read, some say go for the max of $50K and let them counter. However, I think $50K with my current status is probably unrealistic, and I don't want them to just say NO altogether. What do you guys think? Is there like a formula of take your income * something, etc.? Thanks in Advance. SuperG03 |

Ask for whatever you're comfortable with (15k/20k/25k/30k/etc) and take the counter offer if you dont get the amount requested I'm a student and asked for $10k and they approved it (I worked part time) Also got approved for a $10k auto loan, but got denied when I called and asked them to reissue the loan draft for $12500 instead (manager wouldnt approve based on my income) The 1 hard credit pull they do now is good for 90 days for everything (they wont keep pulling your credit if you want different products, they'll just use the same one for everything which is good) |

It's about 14 from request to check. Fidelity does 1 day deposits of Citibank checks. |
