jfharper said:chocula said:c = choppage, your credit file gets too many inquiries and your file is split. I thought that was splitage, and choppage was where your softs get removed before they B* an inquiry...I could be wrong on this.
Also, what are people doing if the report gets split...do they request the be merged back? You are correct--"c" is usually referring to choppage, when extraneous (thought quite useful) soft inquiries are chopped off. "Splittage" is when for whatever reason (too many inquries, accounts or otherwise, I'm not sure if anyone knows yet), your credit file is split into two separate files. The solution to splittage is as you've mentioned, merging, which requires intervention over the phone or otherwise. |

I signed up for the 90 day trial, and it appears the inquirys do stack, or at least what I meant by "stack" is every day when I pull a new report, it adds the new date on to my report but preserves a list of all the prior dates that I pulled on. This is the way it appears on the samples that jackcrawfish posted. So based on that, shouldn't CWG actually help with b*?
I have 22 hard inquirys on EQ I am trying to bump off. I have been pulling daily with TrueCredit, Chase, and CWG for about a week now and I am up to 114 soft inquirys now. I wonder how many more it will take to see something happen. I haven't yet been chopped. I'm hoping for the best. |

TRUELINK 06/18/08 Heres a little more background... The 6/6 report was a free report I pulled after I was denied credit. The TRU*CREDIT/VERTRUE entires are from the Privacy Matters 1 week free trial I did in late April. In my current attempt at hardcore bumpage I started using Tru*credit (TRUELINK) on 6/17, and Chase ID Protect (FIRST ADVANTAGE CREDCO) and Credit Watch Gold (ND-Equ*fax Consumer Services) on 6/22.
Not sure where the 6/1 or the Sept. 2007 soft hits came from. Rorer714, that's intersting how you and I are seeing different behavior from CWG. Perhaps there are other factors involved that we know nothing about. |

IMO, the choppage occurred on or about 6/19 for me and Rorer714 and since you signed up for CWG on 6/22 I'm theorizing you weren't subject to the "3rd-Thursday-Of-Every-Month" query identifying clients near the purported EQ inquiry storage limit. Congrats, t-ghost... I think you will see bumpage very soon. Out of sheer curiosity, you mentioned 114 softs from a post earlier. If I may, with whom were the majority of those softs with (top 3 maybe)? |

While I guess this doesn't disprove the theory that CWG causes choppage, but it does show that c* can occur without CWG. I'm still not so sure to believe that CWG does cause c*, but for me it is worth taking a chance since it is a 90 day free trial and it allows me to get a free new report every day which shows all my soft inquirys.

Thanks, hopefully I did just escape this round of choppage. Your post is the first I've seen of this "3rd-Thursday-Of-Every-Month query", where did you hear about this or is this a theory you have?
I just pulled my 6/27 report and I am now up to 116 softs. In response to your question where a bulk of my soft inquirys are, they are all in account review lines ("AR") I have several that are stacking up, especially my Advanta and Citi cards which do an AR monthly and my Circuit City and Penfed cards every 3 months. Here are the entries from my 6/27 report:
AR-ADVANTA BUSINESS SERVICES 06/11/08, 05/27/08, 05/12/08, 04/09/08, 03/12/08, 02/08/08, 01/11/08, 11/13/07 AR-CITIBANK 04/25/08, 03/28/08, 02/29/08, 01/25/08, 12/28/07, 11/30/07, 10/26/07, 09/28/07, 08/31/07 AR-CITI CARDS CBSD 04/25/08, 03/28/08, 02/29/08, 01/25/08, 12/28/07, 11/30/07, 10/26/07, 09/28/07, 08/31/07, 07/27/07, 06/29/07 PRM-CITI CARDS CBSD 01/31/08, 01/04/08 AR-CITI SD- PRIVATE LABEL RETAIL 04/25/08, 01/25/08, 12/28/07, 11/30/07, 10/26/07, 09/28/07, 08/31/07, 07/27/07, 06/29/07 AR-FNANB/Circuit City 06/12/08, 03/13/08, 12/13/07, 09/06/07 AR-PENTAGON FEDERAL CREDIT UN 06/12/08, 03/13/08, 12/13/07 They are only supposed to stay on your report for 12 months so I am expecting 2 of them to drop off in the next few days. |

I started pulling after May 15 because of several reports of c* on that day. I didn't have CWG at the time. I got CWG on 6/14 and showed c* on 5/23. I had an EQ dispute report on 5/23 which didn't show any c*. I think I made the c* radar by starting daily pulls and disputing. My theory is they add people to a c* list and the lucky ones get c* every month, on the schedule that jackcrawfish posted. |

I haven't been screaming about it, but I have received c* monthly since March, and have been routinely a day or two later than the initial reports each month. I'd have to check exact dates but the 3rd week of the month sounds about right. |

No, you can pull as often as you want, but it's not a traditional credit report. Frankly, I haven't spent much time with it because it's not of much use. You don't get a credit score, which I was expecting when I signed up. BTW, if you alter the URL, you can get to the free offer--or at least I did a few weeks ago. |
