Bill McCollum Attorney General Bill McCollum Office of Attorney General State of Florida The Capitol PL-01 Tallahassee, FL 32399-1050 I, too, want to add my name to this case #L08-3-1160. I have not received my $25 gift cards, I have been in touch with the company both by email and phone. I first started collected gas receipts in October, 2008. Towne Automotive Group provided the "incentive" - A $300 rebate card, (which I paid FreeBeeGas.com $5.00 through Paypal.com). Towne Automotive Group's Address: 5130 Camp Road Hamsburg, NY 14075 Phone #716 648-6948 These are my correcpondence with FreeBeeGas.com, AKA Gasololineredemption.com, thus far: From FreeBeeGas on 11/28/08: ************************************************************************************************************************** I want to apologize for the length of time that it has taken for you to receive your gas card. We are aware that we are a little behind, please bear with us and give us a little of your patience. You will receive all of the gas cards coming to you, It is all being done as fast as possible. Keep sending in receipts and you will receive everything that you are entitled to. Thank You so much, Judy *************************************************************************************************************************** I sent another message to FreeGasGas.com a message on 12/18/08 - Here is their response: ********************************************************************************************************************** We have incurred a complete sequel server database crash, we are aggressively working just as fast as possible to get the newest system functioning properly to better service your account. These issues were unavoidable and unintentional. We have completed the new database software and are in the process of switching the new and the old. During this time you may experience telecommunication issues with our firm, as well as internet. We are expecting to have no further troubles on or after the 30th of December. I understand this is a frustrating situation. Please send your request again in the beginning of January. *************************************************************************************************************************** That's all Bob |

1. Anyone referencing a "sequel" server does not know much about it. Perhaps this was written by a customer service person and never seen by technical staff. 2. Database "crashes" are avoidable and, more importantly, recoverable with a minimal level of widely known practices. Did anyone ever discover a legitimate way these "free gas" companies are making money? That's an important question I answer before making any investment of time or money. For example, I know 0% no fee credit card promos are paid for by suckers who go on to pay very high interest rates and late fees. If "free gas" doesn't have some above board profit angle, OF COURSE they're going to be slow and incompetent in sending out money. |

To any real developer, this message is just beyond comical! complete sequel server database crash - it's SQL, not sequel. These issues were unavoidable and unintentional. - This is why you have system backups and disaster recovery During this time you may experience telecommunication issues with our firm, as well as internet. <-- OH NOSE!!! I'm going to have problems with the internet because your database server is down!?!?! Send in homeland security! |

Hi. I just found this post. I was trying to follow up on my rebate gas cards. Looks like I've been had. The worst part is that I gave them $5 to waste my time. I found the tidewater website (it was green and white)linked through the FL attorney general's site and I filed a consumer complaint there. Do I also need to call the attorney general's office? Is there anywhere else I can file a claim? Thanks so much! |
