If you went through your insurance, wouldn't they consider it two separate claims because it was two separate incidents? |

allstate will punish you for 3 years. i got burgled in apartment and when i moved into the house sure as heck the ding was applied to my homeowners policy. guess who ended up making all their money back. but come on we all know insurance is merely a pre-paid loan. they aren't in business to lose money. |

but come on we all know insurance is merely a pre-paid loan. they aren't in business to lose money. insurance is the transfer of risk - plain and simple. its not a loan, annunity, or any other financial vehicle. if you are risk tolerant raise your deductible - some companies are offering $2500+ now - by self insuring you will lower your annual premium and if you invest that money *you* could be the one earning the profit with zero claims. Everyone bitches about insurance premiums - but they are the first ones in line when something unlucky happens......... |

Not so sure I agree. I am in a similar situation whereby I have some small water damage that has affected walls of my master and bathroom. Did very similar actions and insurance sent and adjuster and contractor who evaluated the situation and contractor actually fixed the main problem (leaky shower pipes), however, walls are still damaged and adjuster was saying that he did not think fixing would come above my deductible... talked to a friend who had a independent contractor come out and look at a problem he had and he made the point that the insurance company is not working in your interest... its like when you get into a car accident, the insurance company may have you go get quotes to fix your car and then send out an adjuster of theirs b4 they ultimately determine how much they are going to give (which has actually happened to me)... anyway, I think now i will have someone independent at least come look and have someone who will "fight" for me... just my 2 cents... |
