Does anyone have experience changing a paid checking/money market account (in this case Citibank) into a free one?

Mine was free for my 4yrs in college because of a deal Citibank had with my university and now I'm being charged $10 a month in fees.

Call them up and tell them you will switch banks if they don't stop charging you. BTW, do you even get interest with a Citi checking account?

If I were you, I'd find a free checking account that pays decent interest

I get interest on the money market account which is linked to the checking account. It's variable though but for some reason I seem to have been getting more interest from the account since I started paying. Weird.

Citi has free checking, sometimes they require you to do a couple small billpays. I just setup automatic recurring $1 payments towards my phone bill to make sure the account stays free
