JorgeBurrito said:So I went to my local citibank branch to deposit my $100 pay check (thats righ baby, $100, read it and weep) and there was like 3 people in line in front of me to get to the teller. I promptly withdrawed all $400 of my money at Citibank as obviously they are about to go under. I am contemplating burying the money in my backyard and then creating a secret treasure map that I will keep underneath my pillow. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to create a pirate like treasure map? What about where to buy high quality booby traps to guard said money (under $400 would be best)? I looked through hot deals but did not see any booby trap deals.

I don't remember the last time I was reading something in this forum and actually burst out laughing. People actually walked into my office to see what was going on. Thanks OP

I hope Senator Schumer isn't reading FW. Wouldn't want this thread to give him any ideas!

When you go to the bank, just remember to keep it quiet (and don't call!)... if the tellers figure it out, they'll take all of the money (just like deals at BestBuy).

Please send me the SKU of the money you got, I want to see if there's any at my local bank. Could you also PM me the receipt (I want to price match)?

The FDIC has roughly $50 billion left on hand. About 200 regional banks and a few larger banks are expected to fail. If your bank fails first you can expect a quick payout within a week or so. After the $50 billion is gone the FDIC has up to 99 years to pay you. It might take many months or years to get your money back. Not a problem unless you you need to have that money on hand in the short term.

Well I order my money directly from the Treasury.

I only get presidential dollars...shipped 500 dollar coins (adams most recently) at a time. I can always melt them down.

banks and FDIC are overrated.

Do you have any references for this info???

In 2003, my mother called to warn me that Enron was in trouble. "It's a good thing you didn't go to work there." I told her they usually don't give jobs to people who don't apply. I'm starting a pool as to when I'll get the IndyMac phone call.

2003? WOW. Information do travel fast in the age of Internet.

I'm enjoying the hilarity of this thread so I thought I'd share the smaller, but funny, gem found in the "Brecks Perennial" Thread about what "SD" stands for...

1. Tightly fold the bills.

2. Place the folded bills in a condom.

3. Tie a knot on the open end of the condom.

4. Swallow the condom.

5. Excrete, rinse, repeat #4.

Is this a joke?

It's a joke.

I'm pretty sure it's not a joke; I asked 10 people and they all confirmed it's not. Yoda was laughing, but he's old and acts weird and is always laughing anyway.

I beg to differ. I held my ACME Joke-O-Meter up the the laptop screen, and it was PEGGED. Never seen such a high reading.
