Long Line at Citibank

So I went to my local citibank branch to deposit my $100 pay check (thats righ baby, $100, read it and weep) and there was like 3 people in line in front of me to get to the teller. I promptly withdrawed all $400 of my money at Citibank as obviously they are about to go under. I am contemplating burying the money in my backyard and then creating a secret treasure map that I will keep underneath my pillow. Anyone have any suggestions on the best way to create a pirate like treasure map? What about where to buy high quality booby traps to guard said money (under $400 would be best)? I looked through hot deals but did not see any booby trap deals.

Is this a joke? The FDIC will guarantee any amount up to $100K, and the US government will NOT let the FDIC fail. (It's way too big and important to go under.) I keep about $5K in various bills in my house, but that's only because I'm paranoid (and it really helped out during 9/11 when ATMs were blinking in and out and it really felt like the world was ending).

Wow, this is getting bad. I went to BoA at 4AM and got in line so I could clear out my $32.14 in savings. No one else got in line until after they opened, I guess since they saw me and knew I would clean BoA out so they didn't bother. It is really getting bad out there.

It's a joke.

You better hurry up and exchange it for yen or euros! I'm hearing the US$ will be completely worthless by Friday.

lol

Good news! The government will redeem buried and burned currency!

Better not let Dolmar hear his favorite too large to fail CitiBank go under or he might have a heart attack. LOL

There was also a long line at Jack-in-the-Box, so I withdrew all the burgers they had. I'll keep them under my bed.

Can you guys tell me if you find any good deals on booby traps? I need to find some creative solutions for dispatching members . . . err . . . I mean burglars. Yeah. Burglars.

Take all of your USD, covert them to Euros, used said Euros to buy as many barrels of oil as possible and one gun. Bury the oil in your backyard, use the gun if needed to protect your oil.

How come no one else has thought of this?

There was a 1 HOUR long line at Carls jr. today, thats right 1 hour for an american burger at a fastfood joint. Looks like even the low-level workers are being run-in on. So, I decided to withdraw all my cash at the Carls Jr. ATM, pack-up and move to Europe where I can get a real American burger fast.

Best thread ever!

As of the first quarter of 2008, the FDIC has identified 90 "problem" banks that have the potential to fail. Please call the FDIC at Toll-Free Number: 877-ASKFDIC (877-275-3342) and demand whether your bank is on that list.
In this economic condition, it is better to be pro-active in getting your stock or savings out of these 'problem' banks before they go under. Naysayers on this board said that your funds are protected to $100K, but a single bank like Indymac can used up 10 percent of the FDIC's reserve. Don't be left holding the bag after their reserves are all used up and your savings will be held up for weeks, months, or even years. I want my AOR money and I want it NOW.

Did you tap the other 3 people on the shoulder and say "Oh, so you guys heard the news too, huh? I'm gonna get all mine before everyone comes for theirs." Then when they ask what you're talking about, just say "Oh, right. Nothing." Then wink.

Thanks for all the great advice. I did not even realize that there was a burger crisis as well. You fwf people are geniusess. After consulting the psychic reccomended by IrishTomBunny I have decided to spend a quarter of my savings, yes $100, on Burgers. I am not sure whether to bury these with my money or not yet, I fear dogs will soon discover my stash if i bury the burgers. Any news on weather there is also a dog crisis?

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and withdrew all my money from the banks. They're so nice that they're giving me uncirculated bills. However instead burring in our backyard, we decided that we wanted to give our kids some fun (they're bored). So on the way home, I bought the small swimming pool from WalMart. We poured all the bills in the swimming pool and now our kids could tell their friends that they swim in money!!!

So I went to Google to find out how to create a pirate like treasure map and there was like 7 search results in front of the best result. This must be a sign that Google is going under. So I went to the library and withdrew all the books. I want to bury them in my backyard but it's not big enough. Does anybody know where to buy more property (under $400 would be best)?

Oh yeah. How to make a pirate like treasure map

You are my new hero, I never even thought to do a google search. This is why fwf is the place to get all of your finance questions answered.

Hey, can you do me a favor and withdraw it all in half dollars. You'll have the added bonus that it won't rot, the metal may be worth more than face value when you do finally dig it up, and you'll be able to use a metal detector to locate it after you lose your treasure map (or the unlikely event that you don't know how to draw a map)

I'd stay far far away from dolmar if Citi went belly up. Maybe they could pay him back with Thank You Points?

Citi is going to go bk, so is Wachovia. It's a pain in the ass to get your FDIC insured money out after the bank goes under.

Did you act all cocky on the way out, after flashing that C-Note (I can't blame you for flashing a C-Note, but I always try to restrain myself, unless I'm wearing jorts [jean shorts], which are really out of trend, and I'm therefore feeling insecure, and have to compensate for it by doing something bling like flashing a C-Note)?

Good thing there wasn't a long line for the bathroom!

This was a good article on spotting troubled banks.

I would do the same but I would need a very small size pool....

Or very large size bills...

eBay here I come! With these "Treasure Maps" I can surely make a bundle! I will offer Custom map making for those who need to bury their money, but don't know how to make the maps. Then when I get their PayPal confirmed address, I can re-sell copies of the same maps to those who need money! I'm a gonna corner the market on treasure maps! Now don't you go stealing my idea!!!!

Absolutely. McDonald is a short.

akhan7 said: Discussion: Is there a burger bubble, and, if there is, when will it pop?

In Silicon Valley we are doing great. What bubble? There's a new McDonald's just went up.

I'm going to the bank tomorrow. Do you think there is going to be a long line?

Totally wrong.....I had this happen on $95,000 and they sent a check that I had in my possession within 5 days.....and it included the accrued interest. Why do you think it is a pain in the ass to get your money back? The FDIC uses banking records to pay immediately.....with no action on your part necessary.

I went to Indimac, and there was a long line too !!!

"Euros", like in more than one? Wow, you must have A LOT of dollars (US or Zimbabwe) to exchange!
