I am on board with the mall visa debit cards that can be used anywhere. These can either be sold on eBay, used for everyday stuff, or used to buy dollars coins.
Buy tv's from Sears, never pick them up. Walk into Nordstroms, buy a couple pairs of really expensive shoes, or jewelry, or anything at all. Nordstrom has a fantastic return policy. Best Buy, look for GPS units that are on display, grab five of them, never have to talk to a saleperson. 6 malls Verbal. Check the list again. |

So nothing different from last year? Anyone have any problems with an AU (authorized user) on the same account doing a round too, on the same day in the same mall? Last year we were able to do it pretty easily. Oh and last year I picked up some lovely designer purses. Too bad the recipients didn't care for them and I had to return them. <chuckle>. |

Last year I bought a hi-def video camera and a digital camera at Sears. Then, I returned them shortly because "my wife told me to take them back". I said she "probably already bought them for me as Christmas presents". No problem with the return. At my Sears, they have a separate pick-up and return area for the higher priced items like these. It was very easy to return - no salesperson involved. |

I guess the best thing to do is to buy clothes or something and wear them. Then take them back and say you didn't wear them if they ask. That way you get your gift card plus some usage out of the fake purchase. Or use the camera for a vacation and then return it. |

the well may be drying up on this deal. Today on my way to visit a few friends out of town I decided to swing by one of the participating malls in their area. Upon swiping my card the customer service rep informed me that the computer stated I had already received my 5 gift cards. This was the first time I had ever gone to this mall. It seems like the computers must update overnight as I had successfully visited two malls the day before. Not good. |

Wonder if this means that they are linking their computers together now at the different malls. |

It just makes me wonder why if they can link that, why are those people at the mall still hand writing the numbers of each and every gift card. |

Sweet. Wife and I spend $$$ at Target all the time for baby supplies... We'll burn through $1,000 of GC's in three months... $100 for spending $1,000 that we would have spent anways? That's 10% return in 3 months -- an APY close to 40%! Woohoo! Mithrin said:The list is now up. http://www.discovercard.com/mallpromo/index.html
The LA and Inland Empire area of CA actually has more malls this time
Also the list includes the Glendale Galleria. Significance = Target is an anchor there. I didn't reach my limit of 5 cards last year, but if I get $400 or 600 in Target gift cards as a head start...
Plus, I'll be in Pasadena for work Sunday anyway. That makes a 125 mile round trip into only an extra 20 miles. |

I have done 2 malls in MD a week apart, and did not have any problems at the 2nd (1st = lakeforest, 2nd=columbia). So, if some of them are networked, it looks like YMMV. |

riv1, how long ago did you hit the two malls with the SAME card? I have a sinking feeling that this was just enacted (another data source) so if you're telling me you just went yesterday with no hitches, it would be a relief... |

Lets hope more malls aren't flagging these. |

I used both of my cards at both malls. Now this may be very interesting then. I hope it was a system glitch (online site can't validate any GCs, not even last year's) and not a sign of the times... |

My friend alerted me earlier today that the new url couldn't validate the cards. So I tried the old url and that didn't work either. However, then I did the old fashioned method and used the PHONE (it is totally automated), which activated and confirmed that there was $20 on the card. <whew!> |

To get around the fear of BK, just use the GGP card for the $1 coins on the same day you bought the card. |
