info based on my AOR experiences:
Discover has a limit of 1 personal new credit card application every 45 days.
Limit 4 Discover cards per person (personal & business).
So if you have 4 cards already, it's probably better to close one of them before applying.
If you don't they may offer you to close it and move CL in order to approve new card, or they can just decline your application.

My recent experience:
09/20/2008 Applied for Discover More DVD Player offer
09/22/2008 Approved (called to get the status)
09/28/2008 Received the card and made a small purchase
10/02/2008 Got an e-mail saying that my DVD player will be shipped soon.
10/02/2008 Replied to the e-mail asking if they can ship it to a different address and got a positive responce.

please post other offers.

It is a 9" DVD player vs. 7".

I like it because it will play Divx movies off of an SD card.

I like your summary a lot more.

I believe you will not be able to apply within 90 days from your first application.

Thanks op, I knew of the Garmin offer, but not the Ipod one. That will come in handy.

sensia said: I believe you will not be able to apply within 90 days from your first application.
it's one personal card and one business card every 45 days according to DISCOVER CSR.

You will also have to be careful of any time limits the promotional company has, not just Discover.

On FatWallet, we want cash. Yeah, we could sell the nano on eBay, but then we'd still have a DISCOVER card on our credit file, which would make us look like losers to any future potential lender. Would you lend money to someone who owns a DISCOVER card?

I wish you could apply for all of these.

I got this card which was applied through the link and used and paid the bill, but there is no sign of the free gift coming.
Does anyone know where to contact for the gift?

Which offer did you apply for?
How long ago were you approved?
How long ago was the purchase made?

their T&C say that it can take 6-10 weeks after card activation, and they define card activation as making a purchase.

On offer page there are two links in the top right corner
1) check shipping status
2) Terms and Condition. after clicking scroll down to the bottom and click "contact us" link.

Please keep us posted on the outcome.

On the DVD player, can you play DIVX movie from burn DVD?

THx

I believe you can check your offer status here.

wonder when they changed to Canon A590. I ordered the card mid-July, made my first purchase around 25th or so and got notification today that they have shipped a A580.

Drat!!!! I actually bought the Canon A590 AND applied for a Discover card both within the last 2 months!

just got my email and tracking number for my camera--it was shipped on Aug 23rd...
awesome

if I have already a discover more card, can I apply for the second one using these links? (I applied in Jan 2008)
Do I need to close it first and then apply for a new one?

You can have more than 1 discover card....based on past posts, they allow you 2 open personal cards....some used to have more but they started closing some on people based on reports, so YMWV...I have 2 personal and 1 biz...

Thank you. I will apply for another one.

Not if I was expecting to get latepayments from them, if I wanted to lend to someone and make money off the fees I would look for someone with a chase.

I've updated OP with 2 more links:
$50 iTunes GC with Discover student card
JBL Speaker Dock for iPod with Discover More card

Just got a confirmation e-mail about iPod: they promise to ship it withing 10 weeks.

Did you receive the camera already? If so how much time did it take?

Thanks
thanksop

I don't really think that there's much of a difference between the Discover More CC and the Student version is there? I wanted to get the Canon A590 and this would be my second CC that I would be applying for. Will I be approved? I've only been through two billing cycles on my first CC (and I do pay it in full, more than the minimum payment, etc. before someone starts berating me.)

I would assume you must be a student in order to apply for student CC.
AFAIK Discover allows 1 application for personal CC every 90 days, so you may need to wait a little longer than 2 billing cycles.
YMMV

i got the canon a580 deal back in june...wanted the a590 since i heard everyone else got one.

the mail today.
edit: actually i did get denied. apparently they just re-issued my same card as thought it

its talking about some $10/$200 bonus tho...that doesnt interfere with may 2nd Canon does it?

Limit: 1 personal app every 90 days.
Side note: Why keep trying for the bonus on the same card? You know there are other credit cards out there, that offer bonuses...

Got my Discover in mid July, used it immediately. Just got a notification that I shipped. So about 2 months even for my GPS unit. Not bad.

terms say: "Due to the rapid pace of changes in consumer electronics, product availability may change without notice. We reserve the right to update and replace the current offer with a reasonably equivalent product or model of equal or greater value based on product availability."

so now instead of the Philips 9" dvd that can play from SD cards...it's now a 8.5 inch panasonic that can't

I applied while the offer was for the phillips, so I hope that is what they send..we'll see because the site now shows:

"Current Status: We're Processing your promotion now!
Congratulations! As you have completed requirements to receive your Panasonic DVD, your order is being processed.
Your Panasonic DVD will ship within 10 weeks of your Discover Card Activation."

thanks for the info. I've updated DVD player description in OP
On a good note... panasonic DVD player is a bit more expensive, so you may be able to fleaBay it and buy Philips instead.

Can the 90 day per card limit be passed using another name at the same address?

lostdude said: Can the 90 day per card limit be passed using another name at the same address?
Limit should be per SSN, not per address.
BTW, according to discover CSR it's every 45 days, not 90 days. YMMV.

Skipping 21 Messages...

what if we never got the item we were promised (Amazon $125).
I got email from them back in Nov. that I had activated my card
and to expect delivery within 10 weeks.

It's been the 10 weeks and nothing.

I noticed no updates to the website and I tried
sending an email to info@mygiftcardoffers.com
but it got returned right away!?

So company is just gone and I'm out of luck, yes?

I don't suppose calling discover would help?
