What don't you understand? What they are or how they work?

I am not sure if I understand both "what they are" and "how they work"...
Could you throw some light on them, please?

I am already a Chase banker, is there any negotiating with them to open another account and utilize this offer?

I would search the threads for "Amazon payments" and "ach push." Sorry, but I'm trying to teach you how to fish and not just giving you the fish. You'll get more details than I could ever tell you and more correct answers to boot.

about how locg does this bonus take to show up after ach push? Also just double checking if Fidelity still counts as a DD.
When I opened my account at the branch, I had to specify the company/organization from which the direct deposit would come.

Hello, I've a couple of specific questions..hope you would not mind answering them? 1. Were you successful in avoiding the monthly fees, with this Amazon payments transfers showing up into your chase account? 2. Why would Chase accept an ACH transfer as a Direct Deposit?
Thanks in advance for your time and inputs.

1. Yes. Often, this is the only type of ACH going into my account. I'm still a poor college student and all... 2. A lot of banks are computerized, so their software does it automatically. This won't work with banks who have people checking this by hand afterwards. Yes, these banks are still out there. Chase is a very large commercial bank though. It's kind of iffy whether or not this type of ACH push will trigger a bonus though, so I never say it does. But it definitely works for avoiding the monthly fee.
Funny tangent- Before when Chase checking accounts had no minimum balance and no monthly fee, I would put some money in, get the bonus, zero out the account, and then wait. The computer just automatically closed accounts that had a zero balance at the end of the day after a month or so. This process usually took 2-3 months. So I never had to wait the full 6 months to close an extra account. Sadly, this won't work now beause of min. balance and deposit requirements.

A couple years ago, it took them less than 2 weeks to close my account after I zeroed out the balance. I didn't know you could avoid the "early close" penalty that way though.
How soon can I close the account after the $200 is deposited? I plan on inputting $1500 in my account and then leaving it there until the $200 hits, then close the account immediately. Looks like the $200 will come as a 1099-INT still, but it's something!

From the fine print: Account Closing: If your checking account is closed within six months, we will deduct the bonus amount at closing.

What happens if you simply write a check for the full balance and deposit it in another bank? What is Chase going to do?

Charge you a monthly maintenance fee if you don't have a direct deposit going in. An account with a negative balance won't get closed.

After the 6 months are up if I just stop the ACH deposits and withdraw all funds will the account close or with they just charge me the $12 fee putting my account into a negative balance? Do I have to call them to close it or do they still close them automatically?

Anyone with experience using an address that is not your current home address? In other words, using your parents' or a partner's address? I'm currently not located in one of their markets, but the 'rents are.
I did search this thread for "address" and (out of)"state" with no luck. TIA.

I used a remote address and it was accepted. However during the application process it asked me to confirm my address and license information on another page and I switched it back to my real home address. The system accepted it and there is no branch for I think 100 miles or more. The address is still in the profile as a secondary address but it can be deleted if you want to.

What do you mean by virtual address? So basically I could use my parents address to start the application, then in the process when it asks for my info use my own (outside of their markets) instead?

Sorry, I meant remote address. It is an address where you can receive mail and they can scan it so you can read it or forward it to you. https://www.mailboxforwarding.com/ The first month is free. I used the Michigan address. Yes that is what I did and the system was fine and the account was funded.

I just did it last Thursday so not enough time has passed yet. I should know soon though because they seem to count everything as a direct deposit.

I tried using an alternate address, but since I'm already a Chase customer, it was not possible to proceed without logging into my account which resulted in a kickback saying the product was not offered. Bummer.

I forgot about that hurdle.
1.Log-in to your Chase account 2.Click "customer center" 3.Click "change mailing address" 4.Click "add an address" and select permanent. (You can change it later) 5.Add the information, at the bottom mark "make this my primary address", and save
This should let you get on with the application. Just remember to change the address back unless you do not mind your parents receiving your mail.

Thanks, that worked! I will wait until I see the $200 in my account before changing my address back.

Both my wife and I opened accounts with (seemingly) no problem and both accounts showed the "bonus receipt" saying it was accepted.

They'll charge you the monthly fee. You have to take the initiative to close your account via phone or a B/M visit.
So, can I apply for the $200 bonus checking account, make the 6 months of $500 direct deposits, collect the $200, and around the first of the year in 2013, close the account without any fee?
