FINALLY GOT THE FORMATTING COMPLETE... enjoy

I've seen all of my wife's bureau pulls and am getting ready to launch AOR2.0 if my EQ inquiries ever bump off. I'd like to net an additional 150,000 this round.

Experian is frozen.

I applied for an invitation from USBank before it expired (I was really thinking my EQ inquiries would have fallen off by now - grrr).

I am planning to unfreeze report for BOA apps after all others have been completed (last on list) - I really am bummed that AMEX has no more juicy BT deals.

I messed up some of my leftover Citi lines (I've effectively reduced 68,500 total credit with them to 19,500). After unsuccessful consolidation attempts, I simply closed accounts and have been trying the CLI option to no avail on an untapped CitiBusiness PremierPass.

I will be closing my existing Barclays BankAtlantic Business card very soon. When I told the rep I wanted to close and re-apply she advised me that a closed Bank Atlantic card with a balance still owing would report to my personal credit report. Without asking why (sorry FW - I failed you), I set-up the payoff on 8/11/2008 and will request closure at that time.

Tentative launch = September 1, 2008

Wow, per bureau application optimization. I've heard of it, but never seen it. It's like the loch ness monster of AORs. However, you need to view business and personal apps wholistically, some biz cards are going to be more important to pull early on a bureau then some personal cards (the bankatlantic card is way better than a personal RBS card, for instance)

I wouldn't apply for more than two Barclays cards.

Do you know if Pulaski pulls the credit report instantly, or if it's delayed? That could affect your timing.

I wouldn't apply for more than one Discover. I see you've already got a personal and a Biz... so I don't really have any suggestions. Note that the camcorder offer is a 6 month BT I think.

That formatting is sexy.

Will be interesting to see if your pulls are from the AOR1.0 bureau.

If you have accounts in good standing with BOA, no need to unfreeze EX. I applied for a BOA accelerated rewards AMEX with EX frozen and got approved with $16K. They pulled TU instead. Just to let you know FNB Omaha will pull TU as well as Chase and Citibank. Associated pulls EQ. Discover and HSBC equals automatic denial if EX is frozen. Hope this helps.

I will be stealing your formatting next month when my 2.0 comes around.

It'd be nice to have a consolidated list of what issuers will pull an alternative if EX is their first choice but they find EX frozen.

Yeah, I would keep EX frozen. I have done the same thing, and although I have not personally done any apps with the frozen EX, I assume from what others are saying that the companies computer will just go after the next reporting agency. I am planning on doing the same thing with an optimized AOR according to credit pulls (I don't see exactly the number of hard inquiries, but will assume you have between 15 and 20 on EX).

I am curious, did you simply use credit boards database to figure out where CC companies were pulling from?

I may alter my order of operation based on this data pointJust to let you know FNB Omaha will pull TU as well as Chase and Citibank. Associated pulls EQ.Mrs Jackcrawfish lives with me in the same zip code (her bureau pull experience). She received pulls from EQ for all of the issuers which you mentioned aboveDiscover and HSBC equals automatic denial if EX is frozen. In fact, Mrs J was approved for one biz and one personal Discover card...I can't speak for HSBC, however.

So, if you're really enforcing credit pull order, and all your intel is good, it means that you won't apply for another TU card until a day after pulaski?

Before the freeze my inqueries were EX 8/EQ 0/TU 2 I applied for bofa/chase/citi/hsbc cards in 2007, all approved but everyone was pulling EX. I froze EX in may and have applied 5 cards since then. The results ended with them pulling 90% TU now. I have one EQ inqury from citibank.

Here's My list of alerts for 2008 from TC I know its not AOR style but I wasn't trying to AOR. Either way Scores dropped no more than 30 points across the board. My Fako scores were all about 780-805 in January. They are now at around 760's-780.

I froze EX on 05/02/08 with 8 inq. TU had 1 inq and EQ had 0
Right now it shows TU 7/EX 8/EQ 1

FNBO and Associated haven't posted as new accounts yet but should sometime this month since I just recently got the cards with the last 2 weeks.

That's what I meant. I tried to do a mini-AOR using TU pulls, or so I thought, and they all hit EQ =/ (My EX is frozen as well.)

It's been my experience that you can't count on the pull you're hoping for. Hoping to be proved wrong here!

FNBO, and State Farm have been known not to be very AOR friendly. You may want to go for those a couple weeks before the "real" AOR if you want to include them. FNBO has a Biz card, and so does State Farm. They also offer personal. Dolmar has posted that FNBO has been very generous with CLIs without the asking..
There is always the possibility of getting them closed if you get them, after the AOR, but if you can pull the money out before they close them, you're in the clear.

For the Advanta Plat Biz card you're considering, Card offers is paying $50 to apply for it through their site.

Thanks for the information.

I applied for an invitation from USBank before it expiredI applied on 8/7/2008. I called 8/11. Credit rep put through to 'verifications' department. They requested paystub with address and mortgage statement with address. Rep said my annual mortgage interest statement also 'should work.' Fax number provided was 701-461-3631 (verifications department). She also provided me the reference number of my application.

jackcrawfish,
I assumme you're closing and then re-applying Bank Atlantic Biz so you can get the intro APR again, is this right? Do you foresee any potential adverse effects with this strategy ? e.g: maybe drop in credit score due to account closure, or Bank Atlantic might see that you've just closed an account and thus deny you from opening a new one?

I thought about doing the same with Advanta & Bank Atlantic, but wasn't sure if this is a good move.

What's the thought process behind considering the unsolicited WAMU ESPN card? I noticed your wife received a very low CL and, other than 2ndCor, I haven't seen anyone receive anything much over a ~$2k CL. Add the points that CLR isn't likely and the term is only 6 months, and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

BTW, I tried your link for that card and it came back with "The offer you selected is no longer available."

Thanks for the heads up on the link. I loved your delivery ("what's the thought process" aka "what are you thinking!?"

True - my wife only got 2k. I was hoping to consolidate my 9k WAMU card to the ESPN before you ruined my fun

Seriously I can't believe I didn't pay attention to the reallocation thread. I guess I'll be a 2008 data point for WAMU reallocation (especially since they pull TU in my area - ok they pulled TU for my wife).

We'll see how it goes... thanks for the interest... I'll look for another link to the offer...

It wasn't so much "what are you thinking" vs. "what am I missing?" I know you're all over the A0R threads and I wondered if you'd seen something that I missed. I also wanted to point out the CLR aspect (or lack thereof) in case you hadn't noticed it.

Good luck!

Jackcrawfish:

I am curious to see your results in regards to closing Bank Atlantic then reapplying.

When do you plan on doing this? As I will be watching your results very closely to prepare for my October AOR2.0.

Also with experian frozen, were there any banks or issuers that denied you because of this?

I would love to freeze my Experian since i already have 12 inquiries.

ETA: I see BOA likes to use EX so I guess I will have to unfreeze EX. But when you do you un freeze EX in the AOR process?

DjPiLL said: Jackcrawfish:

Thanks for your interest... I hope I can be a sucessful data point for all of you current Barclay's Business card holders. Fortunately for the current Bank Atlantic cardholders planning an October, November or December AOR, you will be able to close and open a second Bank Atlantic card (see 3rd section below for details).

PAYMENT DETAILS
I logged in this morning and made a $10k payment from one of my linked checking accounts. The balance after first payment = $15,057. I "phone-paid" free of charge the remaining balance using Citi checking. I wanted to ZERO my balance in the slim chance closing the business card with a balance would somehow flip a "report-to-bureau-switch" (that's what one CSR told me on 8/8/2008).

CLOSURE NOTE:
Immediately after closing, my online session was terminated and online payments are not an option after closure. I called to make payment using my Citi checking account. Rep told me it costs $15 to make pmt with rep and free via the voice response unit for the company account. Furthermore, said that the maximum payment amount per day is $15,000 in total. I hung up called again to make said VRU payment...(make sure to specify that you'd like information for the company account, otherwise the limit per day is $500).

REOPEN NOTE:
While the rep from 8/8/2008 told me I could re-apply 2-4 weeks after closing my account, the news seemed too good to be true... The rep I spoke with this morning advised me I cannot open ANY Barclay's Business accounts under same SSN# within 60 days of today's closure date.. This makes my Bank Atlantic application date 10/11/2008 (10/12 just to be safe).

So what should I do? What does the community think? Should I delay this full AOR until Oct 12th or pull trigger about Sept 1st as planned?

Tough call on that Bank Atlantic. If you close and reapply in the short time frame, maybe two weeks, you give all your fellow FW buddies excellent data points.

But hey I am biased sitting on the sidelines here. I would do what's best for you.

As you pointed out, BOA denies for lack of credit report access. So does AMEX and Wells Fargo. My wife's experience follows for reference.

As for your timing question to unfreeze??? I am of the opinion that unfreezing 5 days following an AOR is a good rule of thumb. My thinking is that most apps have completed their reviews of TU, EQ and EX(frozen). You want to be able to provide the likes of BOA, American Express and Wells Fargo a clean Experian file with no new tradelines resulting from your 5 day old AOR**

**One lesson I've learned from placing a freeze at Experian: To provide AMEX, BOA and/or Wells Fargo rights to view your credit file, you must provide your pin number to them. NOTE: Place your freeze on Experian at least 2 weeks before you commence AOR. While the freeze takes effect immediately at Experian, receiving your pin takes 2 weeks according to bureau-bodacious Win333.

Our family freeze experience mirrors that of Win333's... our freeze was placed 7/29/2008 and through 8/11/2008 we both had not received our pin numbers (key to unlock credit file). We tried to get our pin sooner by clicking "forgot my pin." Results here in theman's thread.

I have a question. You mention a timeframe to unfreeze, but then you mention a pin. You say the pin is to "unlock" the credit file. Is that pin for you so you can call them up or go online and unlock it? Or do you provide this pin to the banks looking to pull?

So you are going to apply for BOA about 5 days after your AOR and after unlocking EX? No worries about applying for this card 5 days after an AOR. Won't they see all the inquiries from the AOR hitting TU and EQ?

REOPEN NOTE:
While the rep from 8/8/2008 told me I could re-apply 2-4 weeks after closing my account, the news seemed too good to be true... The rep I spoke with this morning advised me I cannot open ANY Barclay's Business accounts under same SSN# within 60 days of today's closure date.. This makes my Bank Atlantic application date 10/11/2008 (10/12 just to be safe).

So what should I do? What does the community think? Should I delay this full AOR until Oct 12th or pull trigger about Sept 1st as planned?

Are you sure you're only allowed one Barclays Biz card? Why not try for that generic Barclays biz 12 month offer that popped up recently and reallocate from Bank ATL?

Per Experian Freeze in South Dakota:

To temporarily remove a security freeze for a period of time in order to apply for credit or for any transaction that requires that another party access your personal credit report, log on to www.experian.com/freeze or call 1 888 EXPERIAN (1 888 397 3742), then enter your identification information and PIN. The fee for temporarily removing a security freeze is $10.60, including tax.... To temporarily remove a security freeze for a specific party, provide your PIN to the party you wish to grant access to your report. So you are going to apply for BOA about 5 days after your AOR and after unlocking EX? No worries about applying for this card 5 days after an AOR. Won't they see all the inquiries from the AOR hitting TU and EQ?I am expecting them to pull EX per my wife's experience and there will not be any inquiries < 12 months on my EX report. I want to ensure they don't see 3-10 brand new tradelines on the EX report from 5-day old AOR. This is why I will not wait 30 days to provide the issuer my pin (new debt/new trades, etc).

Make sense?

GREAT question. I failed to mention my Juniper 13 month discussion I had with the rep:

I asked her if this 60-day rule applied to ALL Barclays offers (personal and/or business). She respnonded without my specifically mentioning it, "It applies to all business cards...for example, there is a new 13 month Juniper business card available to new cardmembers - an application by you for this card would be denied if you apply before 60 days has passed"

So wouldn't paying down then applying for the Juniper Biz card (and reallocating Bank Atlantic ---> Juniper Biz) be the best move here?

DjPiLL said: So wouldn't paying down then applying for the Juniper Biz card (and reallocating Bank Atlantic ---> Juniper Biz) be the best move here?I failed to post that they only allow one ACTIVE business card per SSN. So to answer your question:

No, reallocation is not an option.

I am all ears on this issue as well. Ordinarily I would agree with DjPiLL here but in the previous message the CSR said "available to _new_ cardmembers" which (if the CSR knows what they are talking about -- not always the case) makes me concerned that applying for the new card while keeping the B Atlantic open is futile. Somebody's gotta be the guinea pig here... I'll find out in a couple months when I pay off my B Atlantic card.

EDIT: Nevermind, Jackcrawfish beat me to it. Thanks for the info!

I don't doubt anyone's veracity (other than the CSR) but SecondCor521 reports having 2 Bank Atlantic cards here: Text (I gotta hold out some hope)

There is no discussion of them being obtained under multiple SSN

I would definitely call back on Bank Atlantic. Last year, and again about 2 minutes ago, I was told by CSR I could have 4 cards, one for each business.

(I think 2Cor's was one biz and one personal.)

TyroneSchulace said: ...I was told by CSR I could have 4 cards, one for each business.I closed my original Bank Atlantic card this morning so others' datapoints are welcome in this thread as to the #of Barclays's business cards one SSN can have... Anyone? anyone? Does anyone have 2 Barclay's business cards open and active?

Skipping 203 Messages...

it had to happen eventually....a small inconvenience for twice what a HYSA pays.

sure hope these rates last! a bank down the street offers 5.51% up to 25k, and no limit on number of accounts (i'm up to 4)....takes a little time each month to do the transactions, but for several thousand dollars yearly, it's obviously worth it.
