Note that in order to receive the $150 credit you must spend $299 or more at one time (on one receipt) at the SonyStyle store within 45 days of opening the account - a bit more restrictive than other bonuses but also more $$$ for no annual fee. It appears that it is possible to purchase gift cards to make the $299 minimum, but again they will have to be for Sony. Also FYI the card is offered via/through Chase.

Well I would rate this a green being that you can buy $300 worth of giftcards, sell them on $Bay for AT LEAST $250 and still get the $100 cash bonus making it just as good as the Sony card, better if you get more for the GC on $Bay

That sounds like a lot of work for $100.

you are neglecting to count the 17 hours on the phone and internet you will spend getting stupid Sony Rewards to pay up. No way I'm getting suckered in. Fool me once...

I remember the old Sony $100 bonuses pretty reliable, are these now a hassle to get?

isnt it possible to exchange the gift cards for cash, by law? or am i mistaken?

Laws vary by state and the value of the gift cards. For example, California has a law that gift cards with values < $10 may be exchanged for cash, so you would need to purchase 30 $10 gift cards. Some other states do not have similar laws at all, so Sony would be under no legal obligation to provide cash for the giftcard. And if they simply refunded the purchase, you would lose the credit.

i just canceled my Sony card, can i go apply for a new one and get in on this promo?

Yes, you can open multiple Sony accounts (if you qualify) and get the bonus on each account without even having to close any of your old Sony accounts. I have about three Sony cards and I have gotten the bonus on each of them (in the past).

I've heard that Chase has gotten pretty tough on the multiple bonuses thing, but haven't tried myself.

I too am asking about the multiple bonuses, I currently have a chase Sony account and we closed my wife's account 2 months ago. I was hoping to get a PS3 in time for the socom public beta but the terms read "new Sony cardholders". anyone have anymore info on this confirming or denying then i will decide whether to try or not. thanks.

I finally canceled five Chase cards last month (got them only for the free cash), including a Freedom card and a Sony Card and kept the oldest one with them. They consolidated the credit line to 40K. Then about a week ago I signed up for a new Freedom card to $50 credit after first transaction. They only gave me a $500 limit on the new Freedom card Probably because they knew I usually got their cards just for the rebates, but maybe they didn't want to give me much more than the 40K I already have with them. Then I opened a new Discover Miles card to get the free GPS and they gave me about 7K credit.

trying to get in on this too for a ps3 (mainly for the blue-ray since I am a 360 fan boy)

didn't get instant approval, seems to be the case for me on a few apps I've done recently since I moved states less then a year ago (i'm guessing this is why since my FICO is 795).

Do you have to use the card at a SonyStyle store? I seem to recall previous deals where you could use the card at any retailer to get the CashBack. Only reason I am asking is because I have a $100 gift card at a retailer that I would love to put towards a PS3, and getting this $150 back would be even better.

Plan on getting PS3 also, but supposedly its supposed to drop in price $100 in September
