thanks for the response user5701....and i couldn't agree with your more.....Macs are rather expensive..though they are pretty high quality computers....but their laptops should be more competitively priced.....the new MacBook and MacBook Pro are beautiful...I have an IMAC 20..which gives the most "Apple Bang for the Buck" deal in their line up.... And the MAC operating system i am finding is really outstanding...and i really appreciate it after all my "fun" years with windows (lol)...it's a shame that MAC OSX is not the primary operating system rather then Windows....... but, as you said..getting back on topic....yes, that is a major problem with CNB..though CNB CSRs are extremely friendly....you are speaking with the regular CNB Csrs..not the couple of people that run the Online version (3 persons they tell me)..and it seems you can't speak directly to them at all... when you e-mail them, they never seem to respond at all....and their lack of interest in resolving the Mac/Safari issue just points to another example of the attitude.....not to mention the rather "cumbersome" process of getting the account fully established.... It is a great rate they offer...though bear in mind, as a new applicant, you would not get the 6 month guarantee at this point..that promotion has ended (Oct 9th was the end of it)..... You might want to consider Provident Direct (3.75% apy) they are supposed to be pretty good...you could look at the fw thread on it.... |

While the bank does have a choice in the selection of their software, they do not have a choice in its compatibility and it isn't quite fair to blame them for this. They tell you that you can't use Safari and not seem too eager to resolve the issue? That's probably because the software provider has taken that attitude. I do think they could use better software, however, completely changing their system would be an expensive and time-consuming process which they especially would not be able to handle due to the recent large number of applications they have been receiving. I'm sure they do care to have this issue fixed eventually, but the point is it's not the best use of their time right now - you still have the ability to access your account on your computer but are simply too stubborn/lazy to do so. |

not stubborn or lazy.....just like safari better then firefox and wouldn't be using it for anything except this one site...so it just doesn't make much sense to add it on my computer just for this... If there were compatibility problems with many sites..that would be a different story...then i'd have to do that.......some people like to add lots of extra programs to their computers, and i like to keep mine as simple as possible,,,, I still say they could have at least had me speak to someone who handles their technical stuff..who certainly at least could have put in a call to their provider to see if the issue could be corrected.....but they wouldn't even do that..and to me, that makes them the lazy ones..not myself....... How about the fact that they never seem to answer e-mails? Or that their process to get the account going is really more complex then it needs to be? I have delt with small banks before who were far better at all these issues then they are.....so i just can't be as impressed as you are with them.......I'm sure you're happy that you got your 4% for 6 months, so i can understand why you would be anxious to defend them.... |

Their website mentions a promo code. Anybody have ideas on what a valid one would be? |

Well, i made the plunge and added Firefox to my Mac and can now access CNB, so i won't have to close it after all I've been in e-mail contact with a very nice rep there who told me she is aware of the incompatability of their Online Banking with Safari and has been bugging their provider to get it fixed, and will continue to do so.....so, eventually it should work in safari as well.....after my experience with her, i have to retract what i said about them not really caring...actually it appears that they do, even though they are a small operation.... Firefox will come in handy as a second browser when i occassionally run into sites that Safari has problems with....actually, i may switch from Firefox to Camino...which is really Firefox underneath, but more "native" to the Mac interface....it will still be able to access those other sites, like CNB, and yet it will be more "mac-like" so that who knows? could end up my main browser! Anyway, i must say, for a small operation...actually the people over there are pretty cool...... So, i am STAYING with CNB...... |

You have to use Firefox. CNB does not work in Camino (it has the same menu problem as Safari, at least in the version I have installed). Another general note about CNB... while they only allow one external ACH link, their transfers are very fast which means no lost interest. For incoming transfers, the funds are credited as soon as they are received; for outgoing transfers, there is less than a 4 hour gap between the time the funds are withdrawn from your CNB account and posted to your external account (of course, this depends slightly on the other bank, but this is out of CNB's control and the lag with CNB is the shortest I have ever seen). |

Incoming ACH transfer is very fast for this account. I set up a transfer from my bank on Wednesday night and the transfer went through on Friday. My bank showed the funds going out of that account and the CNB account showed the funds credited on the same day, so no lost interest. The ACH system on CNB is very no-frills, but it worked well for me. |

It's funny because i read your post AFTER i had already downloaded Camino and deleted Firefox, making the assumption there would be no problem accessing CNB with Camino..... Then i read your post and said...Uh Oh (lol) But to my delight, when i went to another site that didn't like Safari but mentioned it was compatable with Firefox, i was able to access it...so that was a good "sign"....then i held my "breath" and went to log in CNB and kept my fingers crossed...Well GOOD NEWS.....It Works In the Latest Version of Camino (1.6)..... I thought i would have to delete it and go back to Firefox again...whew (lol) actually i like Camino better because it is more intregrated into the Mac system.... So there is a tip for you..just download the latest version of Camino, and you will have no problem at all! |

Got a question - just to get this account set up quickly, I started it as a single-owner account. Has anybody here started a single-owner account and then switched it to a joint account? Any hassles you expeerienced in doing so? I of course want to preserve my 6-month rate guarantee. |

For transfers initiated through CNB's site: - You can only have one linked account, which was setup when you signed up for the account. - The linked account can be changed by sending a secure bank mail with your new routing/account numbers and whether the account is savings or checking. - To transfer funds: 1. Go to Funds Management > Transfers List. 2. Select incoming and/or outgoing transfer via the checkboxes on the left. 3. Enter amounts and dates. 4. Press submit For external transfers: - Use routing number 041212983 and your assigned account number |

Just to update.. I got tired of EmigrantDirect's way of holding my money ransome of other savings accounts. I opened up a CNBDirect account and was able to confirm two test deposits. But, CNB direct tried to initiate a 20$ credit from emigrant and they were denied with the following message "non-transaction account". I called Emigrant Direct they said they wouldn't allow transfers unless it's a checking account or linked on Emigrants side. This blew my mind because I transfered 25K to ING direct a couple in december of 07, which was only linked on ING's side. So, right now I'm trying to transfer all my money to ING direct from Emigrant so I don't loose as much interest as going through my checking account. If they don't allow that then I think they made up a rule in result to the financial crisis to try to hoard money on their end. Did anyone experience a similar problem? Back in the day there wasn't so many rules to this crap and chasing highest APY was like taking candy from a baby. |

Any know CNB's to/from transfer times? Extremely quick....and the hold is taken off the next day after it arrives.... On Monday, i scheduled on CNB to transfer $20,000 from my Chase Checking Account to CNB....On Tuesday, Chase Online showed funds were transferred.....CNB showed that funds had arrived....When i checked after midnight on Tuesday evening, the $20,000 was shown as AVAILABLE! That is amazing and really COOL.... Same deal going out...Schedule on Monday, should arrive next day in your linked account... They also allow ACH Pulls and Pushes from other banks as well.... Considering how "primitive looking" their online banking is, the transfers are amazingly quick...i have to "tip my hat" to them..not to mention the very good customer service.... Other then my initial problem with Mac/Safari compatibility with their Online Banking (solved by adding Camino to my mac which i am very grateful for having discovered thanks to the CNB mishap..lol).... |

For incoming funds, your external account is debited and CNB account credited on the same day (without a hold as Craig mentioned); for outgoing transfers, I have had funds show up in my external account the same day they are withdrawn from my CNB account (within a few hours in fact). The exact timing will depend upon the receiving bank because there is absolutely no delay on CNB's part. |

You should have received an e-mail with your account number and then another e-mail with your temporary password, to get into the online banking...and that should have come within a day after you verified the link deposits....if i were you, i'd e-mail or phone them and ask them to make sure you get those two e-mails, so you can get in....probably phoning would be faster...... |

Ok, so far, I signed up on their website for a new account, yesterday morning. Mid-afternoon the same day (yesterday) I get two emails, one confirming I signed up, another detailing an online signing process with my username and temporary password. So I click the link and am greeted by the page https://esignfinancial.com/UnsupportedSoftwareVersion.do (Link) Stating I don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 6 or higher installed on my computer. While this is technically true, I don't have any horrific products from the bloatware company Adobe, I do have a pdf reader from Foxit software installed (well, the portable version). Has anybody else been greeted by this? Sort of like craig10x, I flat out refuse to install Adobe Acrobat reader on my machine. It, unlike Firefox, is completely unwanted software, and I will not install it. I guess I'll be checking my account solely on my work laptop where I have to have Adobe software installed for support purposes. What an unpleasant surprise! |
