TooManyCards said:Ultimate Savings and Ultimate Money are both down to 1.3% now. a little off topic, but i didnt want to start another Citi thread. (or should i have?) for Ultimate Savings and Ultimate Money, you're allowed 6 withdraws per statement cycle. i was at a teller to cash some checks. i just wanted about 1/2 the amount plus a roll of quarters, and deposit the rest. after she gave me the $, she forgot the roll of quarters. she gave that to me, then she gave me my deposit slip. she deposited the full amount into Ultimate savings, then withdraw the $ i wanted, then another withdraw for $10 for the quarters. i told her i didnt want any withdraws because i'm limited to 6 for my account. She said if you use the teller, it doesnt count towards your 6. wow.. I never knew this. well, we shall see in next month's statement cause now i expect to be over the limit by 1 |

yurgreat said:what? ATM withdraws dont count towards your 6 limit?! They never did....the 6 rule applies to online and telephone transfers...at atms, you can transfer or withdraw without any limitations.....that's the federal 6 rule....only if you have an account that has specific limits on how many withdrawals can be made under any circumstances....such as Chase Savings...which has a 4 per month limitation....that's Chase's own policy...not the "Fed 6" policy.... And your teller was quite correct..teller transactions (withdrawals or transfers) do not count toward that "Fed 6" policy, either.... |

Can you still open a new Ultimate Savings acct, funding with a rewards cc as a purchase, then removing the funds, paying off the card, closing the account, rinse repeate? Is this still a viable strategy? |

Limit is 5 times per $$# associated with the accounts you open. -cp mrlandlord said:Can you still open a new Ultimate Savings acct, funding with a rewards cc as a purchase, then removing the funds, paying off the card, closing the account, rinse repeate?

Does any one else have an experience as to how often you can open new accounts with a credit card and accrue points? It is a nice feature if it can be repeated (especially since they seem to have a habit of introducing new types of saving accounts you must get if you want the maximum rate). A few points from making the small required minimum deposit can come in useful, but may not be worth the trouble unless you are opening an account anyhow. |

The post above yours is correct. IMHO, discussing this strategy at length will probably further reduce the limit or even eliminate the strategy altogether. Edit: Which is why the edit. |
