I thought I saw this on here, but couldn't find it by searching..

E-Loan started a Savings Plus account that has tiered rates. Now that FDIC insurance is $250K, the top tier is actually pretty good once WaMu's rates get dropped.

You need to have a recurring deposit of $100/month to get this. You can only have one externally linked account.

Savings Plus

Top rate now 1.75%...

NOTE: No ACH pulls from an external org are allowed. I just did one, it was pulled but then reversed the next day.

I do not recommend using ELOAN. The only way money moves in and out is through their ACH and to only one linked account with a restriction of 1 change to the linked account every 2 weeks. ELOAN also declines any transactions from credit cards pulling money out from this account. This account is good if you do not need reliable access to your money.

"You may change your external account every 60 days."

Be aware that your user name can only be 10 characters, so if you paste in a longer name, it will be truncated. I guess I failed to notice that the user name I pasted in had been truncated. When I attempted to log in, I was told that my username didn't exist. I had to call customer service to find out why I couldn't log in. While technically E-loan didn't do anything wrong, I use the same user name for all my financial accounts, and E-loan is the first place I've run into this problem in quite a while. At least telephone CS was prompt and helpful.

Also, I dislike the fact that they make you fill out a form to opt out of marketing. Not just tick a box, but fill out a complete form.

I just got an email saying they will close my account if I dont raise the amount I have there to above the minimum.

Any idea what the minimum is?

I have the same question. I have a whole $1.16 in the account...

Maybe the minimum is $2?

Why would anyone open an account without reading the Terms and Conditions?
The answer to your question is in the section titled "Account Closure."

My account of $20 also got the email. Stopped using the account late summer when I sent everything to dollarsavingsdirect.

Well, just an update.

I had $2, got an email, send $50, didn't help and they closed my account on 12/31/2008

They claim to have ACH my money out but they didn't, it required a long and uncomfortable conversation in which everyone but e-loan was blamed but the money showed up the following morning.

Does anyone else have problems with their website? I haven't checked in a while and I can't access my money there, do I need to be worried?

Nope, no problems.

Thanks for checking! It eventually worked on a different internet connection, so it was my fault.
