awesome, they jacked the freedom card, it is no longer my holy grail of cards. it is now even worse than my hsbc weekender card rofl with the 1% all the time and 2% weekend purchases. guess i have no other card to "want" anymore. |

I've been pretty happy with PenFed's Platinum Rewards Visa, offering 5% on gas, 2% on groceries and 1.25% on everything else. I suppose I could be more aggressive FWF-style and dig in to find what works best for me, but I do fine with this card, although Countrywide Visa (thanks, dmlavigne1), mentioned elsewhere recently, looks good, too. And who knows? As a pretty conservative credit union, PenFed may well remain above the fray of at least some of the financial crisis, meaning it won't change the CC terms any time soon. Fingers crossed. |

Hm, just checked my two cards (I have a Freedom Signature and a Cash Plus), they're both still at the original rewards structures (3% everyday/1% and 5% GGG/1%, respectively). |

I had the Chase Perfectcard Mastercard (Blue) that pays 3% on gasoline purchases, and 1% anywhere else. They recently upgraded that to the Chase Rewards Platinum World Mastercard. It still has the exact same rewards programs as the old Perfectcard. Has anyone heard of any changes coming to this card? |

I have no idea, nor does many others, know when current customers will be switched to the new plan. I hope its a while for the freedom, II still have my 5% rate on the Cash Plus card |

I just noticed the Freedom Business card no longer has the $250 check for $200 redemption option. It's still available for the personal card though. |

I think anyone that has the Freedom Business/Personal card doesn't have to worry for right now...it'll still be some time before they downgrade current cardholders. But it's never too early to start looking for a replacement card...although it seems like everything is being methodically downgraded these days. |

Dopke said:One is the plain Chase Freedom card, the other is the Chase Freedom Visa Signature card. They are different cards (I have both). I don't think this makes a difference because old one is offered both in Platinum and Signature forms. If what you say is true, I will upgrade my Platinum to Signature. |

Is it just me or does Chase have to come up with a less confusing naming-scheme for their wide array of credit cards? |

I just got my Chase Freedom card. It is 3% and 1%. I still have my cash reward card. It is supposed to go to 3% and 1% at the beginning of this month. I was think about switching over to the Freedom card and cancel the cash card. I guess I will keep both for now. |

What are the chances you can still signup for the original chase 3%/1% card? |

Applying for the freedom card in the branch hasnt changed at all yet. If you're still looking for the good version it still exists if you apply in the branch. |

I was going to convert my downgraded Cash Plus to Freedom to get the $250 for 200 redemption, but now I'm not so sure. It will take $2500 in purchases in the 3% Cash Plus categories to make up for the $50 I miss by not converting. I'm a Drugstore-freebie hound, but still I'm not sure about this. Nailbiter! |
