so ... - has anyone received notice of account downgrade yet? - has there been an official announcement from chase (ie are they grandfathering or universally downgrading on a certain date etc)? - how does this affect chase exclusives where you get up to 600/month in your top 5 categories? |

BuckarooBanzai said:Chase Freedom is no longer listed on Visa.com as an available Signature tier card. I was going to switch my old Visa PerfectCard to Freedom just to get the Signature benefits with no annual fee and flexible rewards but now I'm hesitant because I am worried I will end up being sent either the new Freedom card, or the Freedom Plus with the $30 fee Which Signature benefits are you excited about? I have the CF sig card, but do not take advantage of any Signature benefits as far as I know. |

I did not receive any notice for the downgrade of the Cash Reward Program. But the reward points on my November statement was much less than it should be. I used to get 5% on grocery, gas and pharmacy, 1% on others. I email Chase and they said my reward program is now 2%/1%. |

I applied at branch on Dec. 10th, and I still able to get the Chase Freedom Visa sig Card for 3%/1%. The looks of the card is different than the original card, it has grey-like background. |

I think I got downgraded. I received a new card (previous card had an expiration date that's coming up soon). Included were inserts that said that the card offers 3% Cash Back on eligible grocery store, gas station and fast food or quick service restaurant purchases. No mention about the 15 everyday categories. This sucks because I was mainly using this card to get 3% back on utility and telecom bills. I logged into my account online and the reward details still mention getting 3% back on the top 3 out of 15 everyday categories. Maybe I should not activate this new card too soon. |

The expiration date change on the new card should not have any effect on your rewards program....your rewards program features are whatever it shows when you log into Chase Online..... I just got a new card to renew my old Rewards Plus card which is STILL getting the 5% on Food/Drugs/Gas purchases....i activated it and i see no change in my Rewards program at all.... The insert that was included did not even mention what my rewards was..it just said same rewards as before but doesn't give any specifics..... |

I have received a mail. Wamu credit card which is giving free credit score, is getting migrated to Chase. There won't be any credit score available after that. |

pj737, not sure. Maybe Chase would have a complete list? The way I found out was making small purchases at my stores and waiting for the monthly statement (rewards statement that is). You can see which places earned you 1% or 3%. Turns out my major purchasesing places (groceries, gas) only gave 1%, so I went for a different card. Another annoying thing was the $50 minimum for rebates. Other cards have lower values. |

My guess as to why many 5% grocery cards have not been downgraded (I have one such), is that they did an experiment in which some cards were downgraded to see what would happen (a very sensible strategy). They have apparently (or so I hope) decided not to do any further downgrading. This to me is more plausible than that they have a very slow process of shifting cards over. |

You could be quite correct Professor Ed.....it seems that quite a few (but obviously not all) of the Cash Plus cards were converted or had their benefits reduced..but as of more recent times, it seems like very few of the rest have been changed.. And, another interesting observation..very few of their other 5% card, Rewards Plus were converted or changed at ALL......In fact, i just got my renewal on that...it's a fancier "rewards design" card with BLINK on the back, and my 5% benefits have remained exactly the same...... In fact..many have been changed to signature card and still contain the same 5% program as well (mine is a Signature Card..converted early in the game, before they were generally doing that, by my OWN REQUEST)...... I am certainly not complaining and in fact very glad that is the case.......I also have a Freedom card (with the full benefits) and have mostly been using that for a long time, but i think i will be going back to using my Rewards Plus as the primary card again...since i have seen nothing to indicate that i will get changed any time soon..... Perhaps Chase has decided to leave the rest alone |

Freedom plus is a triple miles card. I thought that miles cards could only be used for purchasing certain products? Can you get Cash Back using this card? |
