And they are very similar to the information I get at http://www.BenefitInformationCenter.com.

I only made two purchases on the card at Publix and I do have some autopays for the gym that are left over from the Schwab card. Frustrating part is I'm going on vacation so this was going to be go to card with the 3% on travel but the card is closed due to the fraudulent activity. Costco card will have to be the backup. Still strange it got stolen with such few purchases and short amount of time.

The same thing happened with my card. I only made one purchase on my new card and then a couple days later, I saw random purchases.

My card was completely unused, and has been hidden in my room since I got it, so I have no idea how my account number was used.

I guess this makes me #4

Hearing these kinds of issues makes me put my tin foil hat on and wonder how often banks have a "security breach" but never report on them. Maybe we only hear the really big ones?

We are supposed to get 2% for all purchases up until end of oct, no?

The same thing happened to me. Exactly one percent of my purchase. The two percent from the "Schwab" card was not posted and I did not receive bonuses for gasoline or groceries as you might expect if it was switched to BOA. Really cheesy. In my case it was only a couple of bucks, so I just charged to off to experience. But I won't forget it!

I have a $550 pending charge from "THE STATE BAR OF CALIFORN"! I haven't even activated the card! I almost felt guilty having them send me a new card (I hadn't even activated the new account yet) but I wasn't prepared to close the account out yet.

I just received my privileges card, however, it does not show up in my BOA login. Anyone know where should I register for online access?

They probably didn't match the new card to your existing BofA login. That's what happened to me. They created a new "profile" for the card.

You can call customer service and they will route you around to an IT person who will be able to link your new card to your existing login profile. Or you can follow the instructions that came with your card to create a new, separate login for the card.

Thanks, i supposed I could create new ID, however, I am just little afraid that if it isn't under my BOA login with premium account, they might begin to charge fee next year.

Here's what I'm seeing:

On Nov 3, my brokerage account was credited with 2% of my September balance PLUS my October balance through October 16.

Recheck your Nov 3 credit -- is it exactly 2% of your september balance? In my case it is not. It is higher.

Bank of America seems to have given me 1% of my entire October balance also.

Nope. No extra credit in November in my account. It was exactly 2%. I know BOA is a little short of money these days, but it's sort of ridiculous to cheat customers of a few bucks. More likely just another part of this royal screw-up. These people are idiots.

This happened to me with the new 1-2-3 card. I've had a BOA login since the late 90s. It did not show up after activation on my login after 48 hours or so. I chatted with a CSR, she recommended waiting 48 hours before contacting them again. The next day it was there.

Did you do a "conversion" to the new card or just let the process happen? I just let the process happen.

In my case, I stopped using the card just a day or two after they stopped paying the 2%. I think I did so because someone in this thread said that a CSR told them they would stop paying two percent during the week of the 16th, although I could be wrong...

Thanks for the clarifications. Yes I went back to look at the brokerage account and I did see on 11/4 both september and entire october balance credited at 2%. I just assumed the amount was only for september because they dont usually post until i pay! Great, good to know.

I think they failed.

Just had my first payment(s) post for the BofA card. I had an auto payment set up with FIA. Didn't see that auto payment on the BofA site (and no access on the FIA site anymore) so I set up an auto payment on the BofA site. Guess what, both auto payments posted. Thank god I have enough funds in my checking account to cover both. Will be calling BofA to see how to get the FIA auto payment turned off. (grr)

Even though some people have had some troubles with BofA, I'd like to report some positive points in my experience with them:

1) They've shipped replacement cards overseas. I'm in Asia now. It came by snail mail, but it came in less than ten days.
2) I also got a bonus 1% for purchases in November.
3) They do show pending transactions, providing even more information than FIA.

BofA may not be best option for some, but I try to shop from what's available. So far, BofA cards with no FX fee and 1% bonus makes it my second best while overseas.

============================

No, I didn't do a "conversion", so I guess I let the process happen. Not to bore you with too much detail, but here's my story. I was one who, to this very day, has received no written communications about the changeover after the first notice in early October that something was going to change "soon". I stopped using the card on November 4 because my access to the FIA Internet site was terminated and I didn't like the smell of it. On that same day the correct "reward" for October was debited to my Schwab brokerage account. On November 5 I called FIA card services to get the balance, reconciled it with my records and paid the $464 balance with an electronic transfer on November 6.

I heard nothing else until I got a new card in the mail. After I activated the card I was able to get access to the new site. All my old Schwab FIA information was there, along with a new balance in my "rewards" account. The new balance was $4.64. As you can see, I did not receive any bonuses for the month. No Schwab 2%, no gas 3%, no grocery 2%. As I said earlier, the amount they screwed me out of was peanuts, but I do not like to be cheated, however small the amount.

So that's my long, sad story. I have said this before, but having this Fat Wallet thread for support has been extraordinarily helpful. Thanks to everyone who posted.

My FIA schwab card was the one that has been hijacked more than any other card. The last time it happened after I used the card on Expedia.com (I think owned by hotel.com) to book a rental car. I have decided not to use this card any more. I however plan to keep this as my backup card for oversea vacations, due to the absence of 3% foreign transactions fees. I have had a BOA business credit card in the past and I shut it down due to the absence of having more than 9 months of on-line statements. I hate BOA and don't plan to give them any business. I plan to apply for the 1.5% Capital One card early next year.

If you had auto bill payment on your Schwab card, that continues. The only way to turn it off is to call them and have them do it manually. Paying from the BofA site without having them manually remove the Schwab payments will result in double payments

Some minor bits of data:

For use outside the USA, I have the Capital One 1.5% Cash Rewards Mastercard and the ex-Schwab FIA Visa Card, now at 1-2-3% rewards. Neither has a foreign transaction fee. I haven't yet activated the default replacement Visa card from BOA.

I've noticed a pattern: the Mastercard exchange rate is consistently 0.25% worse than the Visa exchange rate (for the European country where I use the cards). The exchange rates are available at
http://www.visaeurope.com/en/cardholders/exchange_rates.aspx
http://www.mastercard.com/global/currencyconversion/index.html
The pattern emerges if the Visa exchange rate is compared to the Mastercard exchange rate 1 day earlier. The pattern is born out by the actual charges on the November statements for the two cards.

Also, according to my November statement, the ex-Schwab Visa card is paying 2% reward on groceries and 3% on gas on purchases outside the USA (up to the $1500/quarter limit on such purchases).

Thanks for the heads up. Based on this, I called FIA to verify that the autopay had been terminated. The agent said that it had been, and I don't see anything pending on the FIA website like I did last month (I have the Fidelity AMEX). Guess we'll see on December 15...

Interesting observation on Visa vs. Mastercard. One of these days I'm going to pull up the exchange rates for each day over a whole month and plot them to see what the difference is. Unfortunately no time to do so at present.

Edit: Just found this thread: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/1003682/ It's so nice to find someone who's done the work for you! It looks like Mastercard actually turned out marginally better for EUR purchases.

As some others have reported, I just found a fraudulent charge on my BOA card, which I have never even used to make any purchases. I had discontinued use of my Schwab/FIA card after October and the replacement BOA card arrived sometime in mid November. I proceeded to activate it on line without any problems just so I could access my account and pay off any pending charges. Since then, the BOA card has been sock-drawered. I have not used the card at all, even for on-line purchases. Yet this morning I noticed a pending charge from Hertz, placed sometime last week.

I have not used the card at all, even for on-line purchases. Yet this morning I noticed a pending charge from Hertz, placed sometime last week. Even if you never used the BOA card, it's possible that the fraudulent charges were made using the old FIA card number. On BOA's website under Activity, I don't see any way to determine which card number was used for a transaction; but on my statement there's an Account Number column that shows the last 4 digits. So when you get your statement, I'm curious whether it shows the FIA or BOA account number for those transactions.

I also got only 1% for my October purchases, and that 1% is being held by BofA. It was not auto-deposited at Schwab according to the usual schedule. First line BofA phone support was useless. Second line support is working on the problem. Maybe they'll fix it for all of us; the letter I got in August was certainly crystal clear that 2% should have been earned on purchases through October 31st, and that 2% deposited as before. I'll report back when I know more. (Note: a couple of weeks ago, a BofA rep said "even though only 1% showed up on your statement, the right things will happen; just wait a few more days".)

FIA also showed pending transactions. Seems, like you, I was also given an additional 1% bonus. My statement didn't close until a few days after Oct 31, and the sweep into a Schwab account are a month behind (i.e. Sept's rewards sweeps in Nov). My Schwab brokerage account showed a combination from September and October at 2%... *and* BoA shows a 1% bonus from October. In a sense, I got a 3% CashBack bonus on all purchases in October. Fluke, I guess.

Finally decided on the Priceline 2% card as a replacement for this card. I kept using the schwab card until early december and put about $2500 on it so basically lost out on $25 Cash Back. But I think I just realized that I did get the 2% for october from schwab + the 1% from BOA so maybe not that bad. Have to double check though.

Now there is a min of $25 for redemption.

Ugh... anyone else still waiting for this card to be converted? Bank of America really dropped the ball on this. I got a letter in the mail saying I was to be converted on October 31st. Every time I call in, they give me a later estimate for when I'll be converted. A week ago I was told "the middle of december" and when I just called in, they said "between the 24th and the 31st".

What am I getting myself into? I'm so tempted to just cancel the stupid card. It's not like the rewards are anything like what Charles Schwab / FIA gave.

Exxon Mobile is running buy $100 GC, get $10 bonus GC promo (this), and it appears to be stackable with the 3% bonus on gas with the new 1-2-3 card. Bought the $100 GC a few days ago, and verified with BofA today -- the transaction code is right.

Got my current statement today. I was in New Zealand last month and can confirm there were no foreign transactions fees on any of my NZ charges, and they gave me the extra percentages (2% groceries, 3% gas) on my purchases over there.

orum said:   Got my current statement today. I was in New Zealand last month and can confirm there were no foreign transactions fees on any of my NZ charges

Thanks for the update. I'm still suspicious of BofA, but it really appears that the converted card has no foreign transaction fee.

1. privileges card arrived today
2. csr comfirmed no forex despite online t&c for privileges indicating 3%-(some love for we old schwab folks?)
3. info from old card available on bac site.
4. easy signup for extra .5% with linked bac checking account
5. rewards have to be requested, not automatically transferred, and in 2500 point increments only

After the first year, why pay the $75 AF when you can get 1.5% either through Fidelity VISA or CapOne for no AF?

In case any of you are doubting closing your BOA card, in addition to the previos fiasco's I've documented above, here are the latest blunders:

1. Double dipped my checking account for Nov statement. Balance was about $2020 with a $10 credit issued for earlier problem I had with exchange rates. Was told by TWO separate BOA agents auto payment was not setup and I needed to make payment. So I did scheduled payment. Guess what happened:

- BOA takes $2020 from my checking account incorrectly. Even if it was autopay, it should only take $2010
- BOA then processes my payment of $2010 I scheduled. I am not out of extra $2K

Call BOA, reply is they can issue a refund but can take up to 20 days?

2. BOA is still allowing merchants to charge my old Schwab card number even though I've been told it's inactive. Now I have more disputes and paperwork to deal with.

I am closing this account down.

BOA can do refunds via ACH. 2-3 business days max. You have to ask. It was available immediately after the double payment in my case.

Charges/credits from old number and transferred to new number. I am not sure how long this will continue -- old number is not invalid. It is likely going to work until the expiration date on the card of the old number.
