My old Schwab card number remained active after the conversion to privileges. I know this because I got a fraud call from WalMart in the beginning of December that someone was attempting to purchase a WalMart egift card with the wrong name, but my address on the old Schwab card that ended in 9811. So yes it appears that someone definitely stole some of the old Schwab numbers after they were deactivated. Now my bonus points on my first statement from bank of america are not showing up... First CSR tried to tell me that they will take 10-12 weeks after the end of the promotion to post to my account. Still on hold lol boa csr suck.

I understand that it's PITA to do phone payment, etc. etc. However, given the issues people raised in this thread, why would anyone still try to do ACH pull or phone payment to take the risk? Is it true that some of the folks do not get the new BofA credit card statement since the transition?

I got the 'new' paper statement (quoting because it looks pretty much the same as FIA) from BofA, do ACH push (more accurately, billpay) from a non-BofA bank, and voila! My bill was paid. Note that I was also denied online access for a few weeks or so.

Of course I can't speak for others who are paperless and use "pull" payments from their bank or brokerage, but I now use them almost exclusively. I am sometimes on the road for two or three months at a time and I can't always rely on Internet or phone access. ACH full balance pulls allow me to have my bills paid on time while I'm out of touch. If there is a screw-up (which has not yet happened to me) I can straighten it out when I get back to a computer or phone.

Now that's how it has worked since I stopped "pushing" ACH payments from a billpay account a couple of years ago. It remains to be seen if Bank of America, the largest financial institution in the free world, can get its act together and actually pull a routine ACH payment from my brokerage account accurately and on a timely basis. If not, I won't let BOA's ineptitude keep me from using a perfectly good system. There are way too many other credit card issuers who do an excellent job.

My new BofA card comes up under my list of existing BofA accounts. I simply transfer $$ from Checking to the new card to pay off the balance in milliseconds.

I'm still waiting for my CashBack for Nov to post in the brokerage account and then I need to figure out what to do with the account. Schwab charges a fee if you don't have a minimum balance of $1000. I only have a few hundred so I may need to transfer money into avoid any fee.s Does anyone know if we are grandfathered in for no fees?

Didn't see that auto payment on the BofA site (and no access on the FIA site anymore) so I set up an auto payment on the BofA site. Guess what, both auto payments posted. Thank god I have enough funds in my checking account to cover both. Will be calling BofA to see how to get the FIA auto payment turned off. (grr)Idiots. Me too

Been on the phone with them for 20 mins and they still can't figure it out

Any luck clearing this up? I also had an extra payment made ($100, when I had a credit balance that had requested a check for). I logged into the FIA site and sure enough there was another $100 payment scheduled for next month. I cancelled that but I will have to see if it shows up again next month. Amusingly, it had updated the last 4 digits of the account # to match the new card that BOA had sent me! I also tried de-enrolling from their online bill payment, since I have Autopay set up for my new Fidelity card.

Also, the $550 fraudulent charge from the California Bar Association did hit the card -- and it was on the new BofA card (no # on the statement which denotes a transferred charge) which I still had in the envelope and had not activated. So now I will have to send in the fraud affidavit that they sent me.

My card's apparently been hit too with fraudulent authorizations. Several low $ transactions (< $3.00). PITA - had to close that card down - awaiting a replacement. Something smells fishy given the other anecdotal reports here of similar fraud activity.

Yes. You have to speak to online banking. Only they have access to the fia auto pay data. Idiot IT. Well they claimed to have fixed it but who knows

The $1000 minimum you are thinking about was for the opening balance - that was waived with this card. Once open, there are no maintenance fees for the brokerage account. This is described at http://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/investing/pricing_services/fees_minimums

Once open, there are no maintenance fees for the brokerage account. This is described at http://www.schwab.com/public/schwab/investing/pricing_services/fees_minimumsEven though there's no fees, the Pricing Guide says "Minimum Deposit Requirement — The minimum amount that must be deposited and maintained in an account to avoid account closure." So they might close your account if your balance is less than $1000. An older Pricing Guide said that having the credit card waived that requirement, and someone in this thread said that Schwab said we're grandfathered in under that rule. (I don't know if that's still true now that the Schwab card has changed to a BofA card with no ties to Schwab).

Though, since there's no longer a reason to keep the Schwab account for the credit card rewards, it's not really a big deal if they close the account; if you weren't using the account for other things then you won't care; if you were using the account as a brokerage then you probably put more than $1000 in anyway.

Been sorting through this thread, but can't find an answer on this one: Is it still a Signature card? My new Cash Rewards cards don't say Signature on it, so I'm kinda bummed if I lost some of those benefits.

The replacement cards I just received (after the security issue) start with 4313 and do say Signature on them. I had not looked at the previous set (now shredded).

For a 10.75 Euro purchase on my BoA Cash Rewards card, Paypal conversion was to be $14.33 while it was $14.09 on the BoA card (pending authorized amount was $14.18). Does that confirm no forex fee for converted Schwab cards?

Some cards say signature, some don't. All say siggy online. All have signature bennies.

Oh, well guess what the geniuses at BOA did now?

So first they double debit my checking incorrectly taking two payments. So I have to request a refund. They issue a refund for my balance instead of the incorrect charge. Fine.

3 days later after speaking with a sup, there is a line item for the amount I actually authorized payment for saying "Payment return unpaid". Then, they slam me with a $20 return check fee since this amount apparently was not accepted by my bank or something like that.

A call to BOA (of course requiring a 5 min wait) tells me that the funds they tried to debit has a status of "unable to locate" so it was supposedly was never paid to BOA by my bank, hence the "unpaid" with the $20 fee. But the kicker, is my checking account shows these funds taken!!!

BOA claims I just need to wait 2-3 days to see if my finds show up.

I can't cancel this card fast enough...

I have a BofA Alaskan Airlines card and had the Schwab card. Received no conversion letter and got the new BofA 123 card mid November.

Each card has a different billing address (different state) due current churn purposes. BofA web site now states both cards have the same address; however, when I charge the new BofA 123 card with the new address the vendor gets the authorization but the charge never shows up on my credit card statement. This has got me bewildered since the vendors aren't calling me and saying where's my money. Just hope there isn't a hidden account unless I get 2% and no bill/interest/late fees.

Anyone else having trouble with accessing the rewards on the BOFA website?

I am just now setting up my web account, and this is the first time I've had the "pleasure" of using BOFAs website. I can navigate through most of it, but when I try to click over to anything about my rewards - my browser seems to get stuck loading, and eventually the site tells me it's been too long and kicks me off.

It's quite the PITA.

Anyway - I haven't been using the card, but got a mysterious $18(and change) credit on my most recent statement (credit is dated 12/2), listed as a "promotion statement credit". I think/hope/assume this has to do with signing up for the FIA 5% bonus last quarter? Did anyone else get this? I can't find any details that make sense online, and want to make sure it's really there before I go cash it out for an Amazon gift card.

Thanks.

I also had a fraudulent charge on my old Schwab account number. I had already stopped using the card for nearly a month at that point, and the charge appeared the day before I received my new BoA card. It was only for $6.40 and was resolved fairly painlessly by calling CS. I don't think they did any investigation, just credited my account for the same amount.

I'm struck by the number of folks who report fraudulent use of their Schwab or ex-Schwab FIA cards. One has to wonder about their levels of security. I experienced two separate episodes with my ex-Schwab card. Over the last 18 years, I had only suffered from one instance of illicit use across ALL of my cards..........

This is just sort of funny. I have read several posts in this thread that the old Schwab card is still valid. Let me tell you my recent experience. Two days ago I ordered a few photos from the Costco website. Less than $2 total charge! What I didn't realize at the time was that I screwed up and forgot to update the card information that is stored in my profile at Costco. It was still the old Schwab card and expiration date.

Like many of you have reported, the old card worked fine. The order went through without a hitch. Then yesterday I tried to use my new BOA card at the grocery store and it wouldn't work. Yep. They blocked the new card. When I got home I called and after a five minute wait, talked to a very friendly person who didn't know anything about the background, but was able to unblock my card.

So guys, use the old card at your own peril.

I'm seeing neither. Where did you see them post?

Just got this through the message center when asking about the holiday points promotion and the 90 day signup bonus. Anybody resolve this successfully? better to call in?

Errr... did anybody else receive a second card, for no apparent reason? Just came in today's mail... I didn't request, and I've already activated the first card they sent. (It has the same cc number as the first one, so it wasn't a fraud re-issue.)

Yep; I was just going to post the same thing.

Incompetence, thy name is BOA.

Same here. Identical card number, identical CVV on the back. I'll just put it in my sock drawer I guess, not even sure if I need to activate it.

I got a new card yesterday too. The only difference I could find is that the new ones have "signature" on the bottom right corner under the VISA logo. Perhaps that's why they resent all the new cards to us with the same CC & CVV numbers and expiration date.

Aha! I didn't notice the "signature" marking, but you're right - my new card has that too!

That's a good catch - I didn't notice that. After checking the card further, there is a new toll free number on the back of the card now and when you call it, it references Visa Signature.

It is all my fault. I called to complain two weeks ago that they promised me a signature card, and others as well, and only sent a regular one and they hurt my feelings. They just had to listen to me and send all new ones out.

You can go online, under your account-> reward->view point history-> find the correct bill period, it will show if you earn bonus or not on each transaction.

I didn't get 3x on grocery etc either.

No new Signature card here. Just my plain vanilla BofA Cash Rewards. I'm crushed.......

Hahaha. I wonder if BofA is actually more responsive than we give them credit for.

A couple of months ago when the Privileges Reward site came online, I criticized them here for having such a low security signon method. A week later, when I went to the site I see this big popup saying "Your sign in process is changing soon."

I just got this offer in my email:

BofA said: Earn 5% cash backon qualifying travel purchases through March 31, 2012*
We are sorry if you were unable to enroll in the program due to technical issues. Here is another opportunity to take advantage of this special offer.Start this year smart by getting more out of your travel plans. Act now to earn 5% Cash Back (up to $25) on qualifying airfare, hotel, travel agency, car rental and cruise purchases made with your BankAmericard Privileges® Visa Signature® credit card account through March 31, 2012.

Did anyone else get this too? It's the same categories (less restaurants) that we were supposed to be getting 3x points on this quarter. I noticed the signup screen was not showing "Currently enrolled" when the new year started, as if there was some technical delay. I was wondering if this is BofAs makeup attempt.

Thank you, iUSB, for that tip. I clicked that link before but it didn't have any data before, but now I am able to see the 4.5% rebate (3X bonus) on grocery, Drugstore, restaurant, and travel. Attached is a shot of the what the bonus looks like in the rewards section. If you're not getting yours, should contact CSR, good luck.

To add to the examples of BofA incompetence: I've gotten 2 letters in snail mail (once per month since getting the BofA card that replaces my Schwab card) saying "Our records indicate that you requested electronic delivery of your periodic statements ... After multiple attempts to deliver your document notification to you via email, it appears that the notification is being rejected."
But, I did receive the emails notifying me of the statements; I don't think any emails were actually rejected.

Anyone else get those letters?
