I called the number on the back of my fidelity 1.5% VISA credit card. I told them that I have not been actively using the fidelity card because of the low 1.5% reward and I also told the rep that I have been using the Schwab 2% for my daily purchases. Since I have fidelity accounts, I told her that I would be very interested in giving my fidelity card another life out of the drawer if they can give me a 2% card, without applying a new one. The rep on the phone told me that the card could not be converted to a 2% VISA, instead, she could convert it to a 2% AMEX. She did ask me several times to make sure that I really wanted an AMEX card and that I understood that the card will not be widely accepted as VISA. I did ask specially about the credit hard pull and she said no credit pull would be done because this is just an internal conversion of card and a new card number will be issued. So far, not hit yet on my credit report (it is been a week). I have not received the new card yet though. What I like the most is that my current existing large lines of AMEX are not reduced!
I don't have my fidelity VISA card with me now. But, I think the number is 1-877-811-7092 (from my spreadsheet).
Is your a VISA or MC? I do not know whether this is going to make any differences. You might want to call again to speak to a different rep. Mine is visa (Fidelity Investment visa platinum). Thank you so much for giving out the detail! I will call and follow what you did. A little bit warning: sometimes the rep might not know whether there is hard pull or not, do make sure there is none. I had the Schwab rep telling me that there is no hard pull on the credit when opening a brokerage account, but it's not the case. |

Thanks Free888, I've applied and am now waiting for a response within 30 days. Also thanks to Lefty421. For some reason I didn't get any e-mail warnings that new posts had been made to this thread, eventhough I subscribed to the topic, so my Thank You's are later than they should have been. Apologies. |

I am also debating between the Fidelity AMEX and Schwab Visa (have brokerage accounts at both). They sound pretty much the same in terms of Cash Back. Is there any difference in the other benefits between the two cards (i.e. purchase protection, return protection, extended warranty, etc.) It looks like neither has return protection which is a feature I will miss from my SPG card. Thanks! |

Thanks! Main difference is that Schwab has a 0% forex fee while Fidelity has 1%. I had trouble applying for the Schwab one so I settled for the Fidelity. |

No reduction of my rather large existing AMEX credit lines!!! Thank your Bank of America!! Now, I have three 2% cards!
Alert: AMEX cut my credit lines by 110K and I still have not received the 2% AMEX from Fido. So, do not trust what the rep told you. Sorry if I get you excited about the "upgrade" and then the "downgrade"... |

Sorry if I get you excited about the "upgrade" and then the "downgrade"... Well, you cannot blame the CSR from FIA too much, since it is AMEX who cuts your credit line, not FIA. They are two different credit companies... |

I did not get instant approval but card in mail 10 days later with 15k limit. TY for this. BTW, the robot says that if you have applied within less than 10 days you need to wait - but I tried again and pressed 2 instead (it's been more than 10 days - which I think was a lie) and then entered my SS# and it told me I was approved. If you are one of those people who has not recieved the card yet, you should call and check your status. |

I purchased some items on it to get the double warranty in the last 12 months (so I should have another year or so left on the AMEX warranty doubling). Can I cancel my AMEX Blue card without losing the warranty doubling on my previous purchases? I want to switch over to this 2% Fidelity Rewards card. Also, how do the services on the Fidelity card compare to standard AMEX's? (warranty doubling, purchase protection, return protection, etc) I have seen mixed reports about whether the service is provided by AMEX itself and whether as a result it is more difficult to use the services. Thanks . This was posted by a previous poster: "FIA Card Services Fidelity investment rewards AMEX has the following benefits: emergency cash access, credit card fraud protection, identity theft recovery unit, American Express extended warranty, American Express retail protection, American Express emergency assistance, "myconcierge" service, worldwide travel accident insurance, worldwide car rental loss and damage insurance, American Express roadside assistance. The terms and conditions for these were sent to me about 3 weeks after I received my card." |

Signed up for this card last week and received it just a few days later. Just waiting on my Chase Freedom card that I'm going to use as a backup for places that don't take AMEX. |

Thanks . AMEX Blue Card is a DIFFERENT COMPANY from FIA Fidelity AMEX
FIA simply issues a AMEX card like VISA/MC. Nothing to do with AMEX itself..
