how much do trades cost?

From the OP:

What the minimum trade amount?

10 $10 trades would risk at most $100 while qualifying for the $250 bonus. If this was possible, I'd give it a whirl.

I don't see a promotion, I think it is a scam

waht is the difference between mini account and standard account?

mysteryAgain said: waht is the difference between mini account and standard account? From their web site:
A mini account is ideal for traders new to the Forex market, with a minimum deposit size of $250 and smaller trade sizes (10,000) higher leverage (200:1). A standard account is for those investors who are comfortable trading the Forex market. The minimum account balance for a standard account is $2,500, contract size of 100,000 and maximum leverage of 100:1.

Can you buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time?

Thanks OP. Wife and I will open 2 accounts tomorrow and pick up an easy $500 cash. Nice find.

The promotion isn't listed because it was a direct marketing offer via e-mail. You can call the number provided if you have any questions. I probably got the offer because I opened a free practice trading account, but never funded it.

Currency prices change in pips(decimal points), for instance right now it can be 1.0001 USD to CAD, but in the next minute it can be 1.0004 so as long as you make a small trade your potential loss is minimal. They give you massive leverage though, so you must restrain yourself from making a crazy large trades.

If anyone wants me to forward them the e-mail PM ME.

Can anyone answer FloorsMat's question: "Can you buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time?" From my understanding, if you could buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time in a mini account, the most you can lose is the spread for the pair. If EUR/USD is 1.4616/19 in 10,000 size, you lose $3 on each pair. Doing 10 of these would net you $250 - $30 (depends on the spread) = $200~ish. Any expert please correct me if I am wrong.

FloorsMat said: Can you buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time?

might get a little scrutiny for "bonus abuse"....better to take opposite sides of the same trade in two accounts with a partner. That's what we did for a bunch of sportsbook bonuses with minimum wager requirements back in the day

Technically, you cannot buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time since there is no USD/EUR pair in the spot forex world. However, you can hedge the pair by long and short the EUR/USD concurrently (if the broker allows). I did not see if the 10 round trip trades have to be in standard lots or mini lots.

Anyway, if you want to get your feet wet in forex, learn it from the great site Babypips. Forexfactory is an excellent and popular forum among forex traders. There are a lot of scams involving forex brokers, read them here. Enjoy!!!

I agree, we need a link to the main promo page, so we can screenshot the terms. I can't find it on google. Anyone?

AND THIS BETTER NOT TURN OUT LIKE THE OPTIONS EXPRESS PROMO.

MikeR397 said: AND THIS BETTER NOT TURN OUT LIKE THE OPTIONS EXPRESS PROMO.

Working fine for me... so far!

FloorsMat said: Can you buy USD/EUR and EUR/USD at the same time?

No you cannot. You may buy eur/usd and then sell eur/usd for the same amount hence completing the round trip (or sell eur/usd and then buy eur/usd). Each pip on a $10,000 USD trade is $1. With a 2 pip spread on a mini account you are therefore looking at $4 for a round trip if you open and close at the same price. The quietest time for trading is Sunday afternoon PST and late Friday PST. Hopefully they maintain that 2 pip spread during these quiet time periods.

Playing in FOREX with "retail" accounts is sort of like playing game of financial Russian Roulette due to the insane leverages. Get the free cash, get out, and invest in something safer. FOREX is about as risky as it gets.

This is a little confusing. On what basis is the cash bonus based? Is it a deposit minimum or a trade minimum? If it's a trade minimum, how can they deposit the bonus within 5 days when you have 90 days to do the minimum trades? If it's a deposit minimum--how much for each tier?

YMMV on this:

crap, so the promotion is not valid anymore, crap I applied and deposited $1000. Argh

Yep, never a good idea to apply for something like this without clicking through the terms page.

Just spoke with a representative from Forex -- he said that offer is still valid and ongoing as long as you meet terms in the promotion.

mysteryAgain said: Just spoke with a representative from Forex -- he said that offer is still valid and ongoing as long as you meet terms in the promotion.
Yes the response I got sounded suspicious - since the offer clearly says it is good til 12/31/08. However, without a copy of the actual offer, it will be tough to proove you qualified if they don't honor it. Not saying it doesn't exist - simply YMMV.

Higher leverage for those less familiar with Forex? Brilliant!

So how does it work? What's a pip?
So is it like this: you dep usd, trade it into Euro or Yen or Pound or CAD.....wait until currency increase in value...trade back into USD?
so the spread is like an eagle spread or something else? what all those methods? like butterfly and craps? are they making these stuffs up? I thought only banks can trade currency in mass amount? I thought traditionally you must have foreign accounts to do these kind of things. What going on with the world? Sorry I'm just back from civilization.

Hello everyone,

My wife and I spoke to some cust. service reps and they all had different information. Finally, one of them gave us this page, which is clearly the promotion we're discussing:

http://www.forex.com/emails/open-cash08.html

The good news is that the promo seems to be active.
The bad news is that it seems less hot than the OP implied.

From the terms page:

When you deposit... Earn a cash bonus of:
$1,000-$2,499 = $50
$2,500-$9,999 = $100
$10,000-$24,999+ = $250

$10,000 account, 200:1 leverage, what could go wrong?

tsk tsk largeeyes! Should I count the ways?

If you don't know your Forex DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!! see babypips.com for some decent newbie tutorials.
