bank of the wichitas comes up as fdic insured. redneck and redneckbank do not. good enough?

alert mods

Redneck Bank is a Division of Bank of the Wichitas, they are the same institution and therefore they are covered under the same FDIC Insurance.
Redneck BankŪ is the Internet Banking Division of Bank of the WichitasŪ, a bank that was established in 1913, is insured by the FDIC, and has a long history of excellence in the banking industry. So while we have a little fun banking together, you can rest assured your money is safe with us!

Yes, Many online Banking Divisions run under the FDIC of the parent bank. They have the FDIC logo on the Redneck page and would be in deep manure if it wasn't covered

After posting the initial deposit and verifying, how are we supposed to move in a large sum of cash? Is there any electronic way to do this on Redneck's side? Similar to the way we put in the initial 1000?

dmiller40 Could you answer this one? Thanks Scott

do paypal transactions count for the 10 trans requirement? No, it must be debit card point of sale, paypal uses ach's.
What about sending a payment via paypal using a credit/debit card as as the funding method? Then it is processed as a POS purchase on the debit card, not a ACH transfer from the bank account.

Scott,

Did I understand you correctly that this rewards Checking account comes with physical checks as that would be fantastic. I was under the impression that most rewards checking accounts did not allow you to write physical checks.

anybody with any sense won't use a bank card when they have a credit card paying 1-5% Cash Back in their wallet.

Damn didn't think of that, guess I wont get that .27 a month I would have on those Coffee purchases

doh! i meant "won't use a bank card for any large purchases...." such as the aforementioned "nice dinner out"

When I applied it asked if you wanted info for getting checks. My two rewards accounts, Arkansas and Danvers, Both gave me checks so was unaware thats not common practice

How come I could not find Redneck bank on YODLEE, how could I manage it?

I signed up. At the very least it will be humorous but I do like the policies and rate.

The 2.25% for over $25k is also a nice feature and much better than other rewards accounts

Can we wire our initial deposit? Are incoming wires free?

I cant understand why none of you guys try Coastal Federal Credit Union (www.coastal24.com) who gives 5.01% APY for GoGreen Checking account with 12 debit purchases a month!!?? You don't have to become member of any organization to get this Credit Union membership.
FYI..It's based at Raleigh, NC.

since there is a few actual employees of Redneck on the thread now...let me just say to them that you have a really cool set-up and a great sense of humor too (unusual for a bank)...

just to give a suggestion: your two weak points are the $500 transfer limit on external transfers to other banks (should be no limit at all) this make it very inconvenient to move in/out a large sum of cash
and the other thing is with the Bill Pay..personally, i don't even have 10 payees to pay bills to each month...but why have any limit on that (only 10 for free ) and also, why only limit a payment to $1500?
sometimes people want to pay larger bills and it is inconvenient to have to call to get permission to pay a larger bill.....

Otherwise great set-up...but you should let your "higher ups" know about those "weak spots"..........

Just opened account. Only funded with a $100 until I get comfortable with this bank. For instance, I'm wondering how long it will take before I get an online username and password. Also, I want to understand what they are going to charge for checks since I have several other checking accounts which I have free checks from. Also, I am trying to understand whether I can do push transfers from Citibank or Bank of America into this account for more than $500 which all other banks I deal with allow. Also, if I want to pay my credit card bills from the credit card company website will they honor these payments or do I have to use their billpay? I also want to understand how their statement cycle works and if I can change it to the end of each month which I have at almost every bank I deal with currently. I also rarely use my debit cards for purchases as I prefer credit cards so I will have to start being creative to figure out what purchases to make via debit card especially when I'm traveling for several weeks in a possible statement cycle. I'm strongly thinking about using this account as a replacement for my HSBC online payment account which was recently lowered to 1.75% today which I use to pay my credit card bills. And I want to know if I can initiate a pull from this account to fidelity like I do currently with my other accounts. So I'm being conservative initially but if I like them which I'm hoping I do then I will definitely shift alot more of my cash to this account. I also don't like they charge you a $10 monthly fee for a dormant account but they don't indicate how long an account has to be inactive before being considered dormant.
