How strict is penfed regarding this $500 requirement? Is it negotiable? This was not mentioned anywhere during the application process. My collision deductible is still $1000 about 8 months into a loan. Not that I condone this kind of rebellious behavior. |

Right after I purchased my vehicle I called and asked about deductible requirement and the rep said it was ok for me to keep the $1k deductible. I faxed the proof in showing the deductible and never heard anything back from them. So I think you're safe. |

Thanks for all the input. Yeah, I asked my insurance agent to keep the 1K deductible when submitting the documents to penfed. It was over two weeks ago and nobody called yet. Based on the replies on this thread, I'm probably fine. Thanks |

i don't get it. somebody mentioned 'anybody can be a member if you read the link'. How exactly does that work? I am a veteran, but I don't think I'm eligible. edit: OK, i see NMFA #7 for $20 membership fee, but what seems ambiguous is #4. Does this mean any family or housemate that served? If so I suppose I could list myself, lol. |

If you're a veteran, you go to the head of the class with #1. #4 is that anyone who's immediate family of a current member in the credit union, no matter how that member got in. #7 is the membership of last resort, which applies to anyone with $20 to go to NMFA. Thank you for your service. |

Anyone buy PenFed's extended warranty (mechanical breakdown protection) and/or made a claim on it? Looking to buy a late model used car with CVT transmission which is an expensive repair if something goes wrong and PenFed offers the bumper-to-bumper platinum coverage for 4/5yr or 100k miles for $950-$1000 (depending on current mileage of the car), wondering if it was a good company to deal with |

Make sure you keep your maintenance records and understand what's covered and not covered. |

I am pre-approved for a Penfed loan up to $26,000 until December 8th. I am in the process of an AOR and expect to rack up about $103K of 0% money withing the next couple weeks. If I attempt to cash in on the Penfed car loan before December 8th, I am concerned that they may check my credit again and won't give me the loan. If anyone has tried to do this, data points would be appreciated even if you were unsuccessful. Thanks in advance. |
